Chapter 10

When I opened my eyes again, I expected myself to wake up in the infirmary.

Above my head hung a glistering golden chandelier, the glass sparkled like crystals, reflecting my feet which were clothed in delicate lace heels. I looked down and noticed I was wearing a white ballgown, one stretching past my ankles. The neckline was a sweetheart one. The dress was sleeveless with straps crossing around my neck to my back. I felt my hair, careful not to mess it up and found it to be done up. It felt like I was in a palace and it took my breath away. Something pricked my finger and I glanced down to see that the dress had diamonds attached to it. All that was enough to distract me, until I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“Is this heaven?” I muttered to myself.

I slowly spun around to greet the other, who requested my attention.

“Miss Sluvashki, what a surprise to see you here.”

“Mr. Bardon.” I bowed and lifted my dress.
