Chapter Five

"So, you can move in this weekend. The place is already stocked with food so you don't have to worry. The water and electricity bills have been paid for a year and the rent has also been sorted for the next couple of months." Amanda explained.

"Thank you Amanda. I promise that u will save up and pay you back to the last dime. " May gave her a hug.

"It's okay, what are friends for? "

"What if your brother finds out? I don't want to put you in trouble with him" May said.

"He has no say because it is my apartment and I paid for everything with my money" Amanda shrugged.

"Thank you so much" May said for the last time.

"It's okay, Now come on. I'll drop you off on my way to the University. It's your first day at work so you shouldn't be late"

"Sure. Let's go"

"Please talk to your boss so that she can give you the evening shift. That way you will have time to get an admission into the University "Amanda said.

"Sure. I will bye Mandy. Have a nice day"

"You too honey. I will pick you up later do we can check out the apartment. Love you" she shouted, her head hanging out her car window.

The rest of the day May spent walk left and right, serving Various customers.It was tiring but she knew that it would all be worth it once she was in school.

The environment was nice and her boss, Miss Jones was just so friendly. She was actually happy that she had gotten such a job.

After Amanda had picked up May, they were able to go to the apartment and plan on where and how they would be staying after May moved in.

"I loved it. I still don't know how to thank you for a this"May said as they both stepped into Daniel's house later that evening.

"You don't have to thank me. I also have a relative in the ministry of Education and he has agreed to get a new High school certificate made for you. All the details are there so it will only take a day. We can get it tomorrow " Amanda said.

"Oh thank you " May cried as she hugged Amanda tightly.

Amanda was about to speak again when they both heard a woman's Voice in Front of them They both turned their gaze to Daniel who was making out with a lady in the hallway.

May gasped and clenched onto her heart as if she had just been stabbed.

"Are you okay? " Amanda asked shaking her a bit. Finally Daniel noticed their presence and let go of the lady.

"Let's go to my room" Amanda suggested and took May's hand before pulling her to his room.

May still remained silent, her eyes burning with unshed tears.

"I am sorry. I am sorry May. Breathe, just breathe " Amanda brought her in for a hug before letting go.

"I am okay. I am sorry If I scared you. I don't think I will ever get used to the fact that he will never love me. Or have any feelings for me. I think we should move into your apartment tonight. All this heart ache is just too much to take" she whispered the last part.

"You are right. Let's start packing "

Amanda and May packed their belongings quickly, then as soon as they were done, they called for a taxi and left.

"I'll fix us both something to eat" Amanda said as they entered the apartment.

"No, I will. You must be tired "May reasoned.

"We are both tired, so how about we just eat the left over spaghetti and meatballs in the fridge "Amanda said.

"Sounds like a plan "

"Oh this tastes wonderful " May said as she gulped down her food.

"Thank you, I am quite the chef"Amanda gave her a wink to which she just laughed.

"I know, let's have a party" Amanda suggested out if the blue.

"What? How? " May asked, amused.

As an answer Amanda turned up the volume of the radio and the both dance to the tune playing. Mumbling the familiar tune.

They danced for so long until they were cut off by a knock on the door.

"Yes" Amanda said as she came face to face with a handsome man leaning on the door.

"Ma'am I get that you guys are partying but could you keep it down. Some of us are trying to sleep "The man said politely.

"Of course, I am so sorry "Amanda said.

She was about to close the door when the man spoke.

"Won't you invite me in? " the man asked a smirk on his face.

"No, I don't even know you. What if you turn out to be a murdered" Amanda said placing her hands on her hips. she regretted her move though as his eyes trailed down to where her hands were and he liked his lips.

"I am Josh. Your neighbor. I am not a murderer "the man said.

Amanda scoffed "That's exactly what a murderer would say. Come in, Josh" she stepped aside and let him pass.

"May, this is Josh. And Josh this is my friend May" Amanda introduced.

May yanked Amanda aside and whispered in her ear.

"Are you nuts? How do you even know if he is a good guy? "

"Relax. I have been staying at this apartment for months. I know who is who. Plus he is a cop. He is harmless " Amanda waved off.

"Oh he better be harmless" May seethed.

"You know I can hear you right? You guys are like three steps away? " Josh let out an amused laugh.

"Whatever. I am going to bed"May said and walked off.

"So, Josh. Tell me about yourself, " Amanda said taking a seat next to Josh.

"Well, my name is Josh. I have been living next to you for months though I don't think you ever noticed. "He said with a smile then turned to face her.

"I would watch you come in every day and go out but you never even noticed me " he spoke.

"Really? " she asked.

"Yeah, who do you think has been watering your flowers for you" He said.

"It's you? " she asked as realisation dawned on her.

"Yup " he said and just as she was about to open her mouth to thank him, he captured her lips with his.
