Chapter Four.

Three weeks had passed already and May was still living with Daniel and Amanda. She knew however that Daniel didn't want him there, she tried to endure his foul moods and attitude towards her with hope that she would find somewhere else to go and leave Daniel's house.

She was however happy that Amanda was always by her side. She had gotten a job at a cafe near Daniel's place as a waitress and she had planned to move out as soon as she received her first paycheck.

"Hi, May" Their house help, Tara greeted.

"Hey, Tara"

"Would you please help me take this up to Mr Daniel's room? I was supposed to take to him but I have a pot on the fire. I can't leave till its done" she explained.

"It's okay, I'll take it to him" May agreed, taking the tray from Tara.

May made her way upstairs cautiously. She didn't want to spill the soup she was carrying on the tray.

"Daniel, sir " she called, but received no answer.

"Sir" she called again but heard nothing.

So she made her way into his room. She had just place the tray down on the table when Daniel appeared from the bathroom, a towel hanging low on his waist.

His impressive V-line on display.

May swallowed hard as she peeled her eyes from his body.Only to be met with a pair of cold, emotionless eyes.

"What are you doing here? " Daniel demanded angrily.

"I....i came to bring you your food" she stuttered out.

"Why didn't Tara bring it? "

"She was a bit occupied. "

"Don't ever come into my room again, got it? "

"Yes sir" she responded but when she raises her head, her eyes landed on his chest.

Oh he had so much muscle, May could only imagine how much he worked out.

She was brought back to reality by a scoff from him.

"I can't believe. my sister and I bought the story of you being a rape victim. You probably brought it upon yourself. I mean look at you right now, you are practically eye raping me. "He spat, looking at her in disgust.

May gasped, then blinked continuously to detain the tears that were threatening to break through.

With a quick excuse me sir'she turned and left.

Once she had gotten to the privacy of her room, she sat herself on the bed and let the tears flow.

How could he say that to her? He knew how much the topic pained her and to bring it up again? He had no right to accuse her of bringing her situation upon herself.

He had no right.

And so what if she liked him. Yes, she had admitted it to herself that she did have a crush on Daniel.

Why? She didn't know. It just seemed like every time he was around, her heart would just beat faster. She would find herself smiling at the thought of him.

She was human after all. Even she deserved to love and to be loved.

She knew, that Daniel would never return her feelings, but it didn't matter to her. All she cared about was being able to see him everyday.

That itself was enough to keep her going.

Maybe one day he will return my affections ' she reassured herself.

She turned off the lights then got under the covers and slept.

May was woken up in the middle of the night by noises, laughter specifically.

She decided to check. She walked slowly down the hallway to where the sound was coming from.

Daniel's room.

She took a deep breath then peeked her head inside.

It was dark, except for the light from the bed side lamp that was still on. She continued to search for the source of the noise until her eyes landed on Daniel, who had a woman bellow him. He was tickling her and they were both laughing.

Her heart clenched as she heard the woman call Daniel's name, begging him to stop tickling her.

She didn't even realize she was crying until her vision became blurry.

She turned around slowly when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

It was Amanda.

She quickly wiped her tears and walked back to her room.

"Amanda, what are you doing here.I thought you were spending the night at a friend's house? " May asked, her Voice coming out weak and vulnerable.

"Are you okay" Amanda asked instead.

"Yeah...W... why wouldn't i be? " she stuttered out and furiously whipped a lone tear that had managed to break free.

"May, I know you have feelings for my brother. And I also know that you just saw him with another woman " Amanda said.

"I have no feelings for him. And as for the other woman, he is free to do as it pleases. I don't care " she said, mostly trying to convince herself.

"It's okay to feel this way... "Amanda began.

"No, Mandy. It's not okay. I don't know how to stop it. I don't know how to control it and hurts too much. You brother is way out of my league. I should accept that. Forgive me for being selfish and ungrateful.

You and you brother have helped me so much and here I am crying because he is happy. Forgive me" she sobbed, her head buried in Amanda's shoulder.

"It's okay, I understand. I think we are in the same situation. I like this guy who doesn't even know I exist. You have nothing to apologize for. "

"I got a job today. It's in a nearby Café. The pay is good and I honestly think it will help pay my tuition fees and house rent. " she said with a smile.

"But you don't need to pay for house rent. You can always stay here " Amanda suggested.

"No, I have stayed here enough. I don't think you brother would like it if I stayed here longer. " she said with a small smile.

"There is no way I am letting you rent a house. You can stay at my apartment. It's close to the University "

"Why do you have an apartment when you stay here? "

"Sometimes a girl needs to have a little lone time" she said earning a laugh from both of them.

"I guess that would be wise" May agreed.
