The storm

Instead of going to school, I'm stuck in the house because of a massive thunderstorm raging on the area badly. People are running into stores for food, and water because of flooding and rain.

So, my day is going to be nothing but homework doing.

I finished doing my math packet for the next two weeks, I only have English to do. I've got to read the book The Giver. I've already more then, half way through the book.

So, I have to write about the point of view on the book and other stuff.

But as I'm typing on my laptop the lights start flicking on and off like the storm is going to knock the power out.

"Just great." I whisper to myself feeling scared like something bad is going to happen. I try and push the feeling away, but it just kept getting stronger.

As I'm typing the power goes out with a big bang from the thunder.

I grab my phone to use as a flashlight to go to the breaker box that's in the storage room upstairs.

As I'm walking up the steps, they crack louder, louder as I feel my heart beat getting faster as I'm feeling scared like I'm being watch by something or someone.

I flash my flashlight on my path to the storage room which is all the way down the hallway.

I finally get to room to see that the breaker box do is open. I start to panic because someone is in the house. I walk in the room with caution towards the box fearing someone would pop out and get me.

I look for the breaker that needs to be turned on as I feel as if I'm still being watched. I finally find the switch that needs to be turned back on.

The power comes on but in the room there is nothing but box's everywhere.

Mm...That's odd I thought. I open one box to find all my old toys. The one next to it had my old clothes. I close the box's and start wondering why my dad never got rid of these things.

I walk back down stairs find that no one was home yet. They were all gone expect Max. Since he is in his room watching a movie and playing.

And everyone is out getting food and stuff just encase of flooding.

So, I agreed to babysit till they got back.

I go back to my room and grab my phone to make a call. I go to my contacts and call my dad.

The phone rings only to go to voicemail "Hey, just calling to check when y'all will be home. Its going to start getting bad out." I says as I'm looking out the window. I hang up the phone.

When Max comes into the room asking "When is everyone going to be home?"

"Soon honey. But go get a snack from the kitchen and we'll watch a movie." I say ruffling his hair before he goes off into the kitchen.

I turn the tv on in the living room switching to Netflix. Max comes running in the room with juice packs and popcorn.

"You ready?" I ask him.

"Yeah I want to watch lilo and stitch 2." He says as he holds up two fingers. "Alright that's fine." I say as I'm looking for the movie.

I turn the movie on for us. About half way through the movie the front door burst open scaring both of us. "Stay right here. I'll be back." I say before getting up.

I get up to look who it is but not before picking up the closes thing to me, so that I can protect myself.

I get closer to the door to see it Shane and Nick with nothing but bags in their hands with Dad and Blaire right behind them with more bags.

"Sorry it took us so long; this woman was arguing with us about everything we would get like she was following us." Blaire says putting the bags in the kitchen. "It's been three hours. Y'all should've been home before that. The storm started to get bad out there. I already had to turn the breaker back on from the storm knocking it out." I say helping them with the stuff.

"Is Max alright?" My dad asks me. "Yeah, he is watching another movie with snacks. Now let's get this put away till the storm pass." I says grabbing more stuff.

"Well the news report says the storm is right over our area and it has a massive flood warning." Blaire reads from off her phone.

"Well that's just great. We won't be able to leave the house for a few days." I say putting what was left away.

"I guess I'll go finish my homework then. By the time this storm ends I'll have weeks of homework done." I say before walking back to my room with Blaire hot on my trail.

"Maybe I should do the same." She says coming into my room with her stuff. "Alright let's get cracking." I say grabbing my laptop for the evening.
