Peeked behind David and saw that the man was gesturing for one of us to pull down the window. I pressed the button and let the window slide down. "Hello officer. Need help?" I asked getting my drivers licence ready to show the guard. He was eyeing us weirdly and I could see he was trying to figure out our ages. We do have baby faces so I wouldn't be surprised if he thought we were about 9 or 10.
"Can I get licence or any other source of age and identification." The guard ordered leaning forward resting his arms on the top of my car.
He better take his filthy off my beautiful car or I'll chop them off.
I handed over my drivers licence without hesitation and waited for a response to let me go. I studied his face as he read the rectangular, blue card he was holding. His eyes widened as he read the information. Afterwards the guard handed the licence back to David. I whispered to him to drop it in the middle compartment.
"Wow. Miss. Baker I'm a big fan of your work, more like a follower acually. " He fan boyed. Seriously now. I bit my tongue and forced a smile. "Really!? That means so much. Thank you!" I fake exclaimed and shook the mans hand. "Wait your David aren't you. OMG it is you! I'm a big fan of you too." He explained and shook Davids hand aswell. "So since you two are here. Is Ryder Kim in Ireland too?" The gaurd asked excitedly practically shaking in his boots.
I heavily sighed and answered his question. "I'm sorry but I don't know. Me and Mr. Kim don't talk so sorry I couldn't help. I don't mean to be rude but me and Mr. O Coner have to go. So if you don't mind....." I trailed off in hopes he would get off my car.
To my luck he did. He immediately jumped back and bidded us a good rest of the day. I simply smiled, nodded and drove out of the situation as quick as I could.
"So we have a celebrity of Ireland here. Why didnt you tell me?" I asked as we were cruising down an empty, deserted road. A road that led to one of our favourite places on earth. It was a woods but in the woods there was a tree house that David and his dad built from scratch. It was built especially for us. After the death of Davids parents we would visit this place everyday. Sometimes even sleep in it!
This was because the road that we were driving on was the same road that his parents died on.
They were great friends of my parents. His mother a famous American singer and his father a famous rally driver, similar to my Dad. That's how we met. Both of fathers met in a competition and ever since then they were best friends.
Being children of famous parent comes with many pros but even more cons. Both me and David attended private schools, private parties, private boats and yachts and we were under srict rules. These were just a snippet of the cons but this was all because of our safety. David revived many death treats more that me.
One day when we were 7, his parents told David and I to stay in the tree house. We did as we were told and watched them walk away to their car. The rumble of their cars engines roared for a few minutes until..... Bang! Me and David got a fright and ran in the direction of the bang. We sprinted as fast as we could out of the forest and out onto the road.
I remember the feeling of my stomach dropping and how my throat became dry and gritty. There, on field, displayed the haunting sight of a f*cked up Mercedes on fire and turned upside down. Tara, Davids mother, was laying on the road submerged in a pool of her own red, thick blood. She had lost her arm which was later found in the car. Marc, Davids father, was stuck was in the upturned car still alive. After burning my eyes with the state of Tara on the road, my first instinct was to run to the car. There I saw Marc crawling out of the driver seat and throwing him self onto the ground. When I reached his struggling body he was taking his last few breaths but dispite that he still managed to send a message to me. "Protect him for me and his- his mother. Remember sta-stay strong. I love you and tell him I love hi- him. I'm sorry Camy." these were his last words before his head dropped and he took his final breaths while closing his eyes and smiling. David was on his way over when I screamed Marc's name. I turned and ran to David to tell him the message his beloved dad wanted me to deliver.
That day was my first time loosing someone. Especially someone who was really close to me. At that time I was scared that David would hate me or blame me for his fathers passing but he never did. Instead he thanked me saying "I'm so thankful that you went to him even after you saw my mother. Seeing my mother I thought that there was no chance in heaven that my father survived the crash but instead of thinking you took action and I am for ever greatful for that. My father can now rest in peace knowing that he got his message sent to me and beacuse that he had a heart warming sight to before he died. I'm glad that it was you and not me because, if it was me I would have even more terrible nightmares of his sick voice talking to me in my sleep."
The first time David saw me cry was when he said those words to me. I felt so touched and thankful that he didn't blame me. This is why me and him are best friends. We can be torn apart no matter what. Even death, we will die together.
"There's the entrance."
