The reason we wait.

The morning had come it was time to go and retrieve what they could from the beast. As Jason And richard conversed about what could be obtained from the beast that was useful Alice went out to do a little scouting. She observed from boroughs of the tree, as to try not to disrupt any strong scavengers that might have found the carcass.

Alice was never much for conversation even before the world hit its current speed bump. But the isolation had taken its toll oh her. She was now very antisocial and had to force herself to speak most of the time.

Alice used to be very paranoid about people mainly men who knew where she lived but after the fall of humanity and the rise of beasts she was less inclined to fear people. Fear is a sickness that she had been infected with long ago but it also kept her alive and on her toes most of the time.

As Alice watched she noticed not many of the normal creatures were around and couldn't spot anything strong that had come to eat the body so she went to inform the others.

"Nows the time to strike while the irons not being eaten.... or something like that we should go grab what we can now." Richard kinda chuckled as he realized she was not so good at conversation but jason only glared.

"Ok you should just stay here dude your wounded and wont be of much help." After richard said this he turned from jason and started to walk towards the door the there safehouse. Jason said nothing and simply sat down with a disgruntled look on hus face but knew his brother was correct. "I guess i can snoop around while the weirdo is away" Jason thought.

Leaving the safe house Alice and Richard walked towards the ladder down. But as soon as Richard could see down he stopped and signaled for Alice to do the same. Looking down He saw a large snake like beast with legs and no tail start to unhinged its jaw and swallow the slain beast. but before it could wrap its fangs around half a loud howl was heard.

Suddenly a wolf twice the size of the one on the ground dead jumped from above the two Sitting on a branch and landed directly in fron of the beast trying to swallow its kin.

Before the smaller Wolf that was already as big as a bull this wolf looked like a elephant in size and had the same type of tail but instead of bone it looked to be made of Obsidian.

Richard scanned the two from atop his tree cover.

Then he scanned the snake beast to try to grasp the magnitude of the fight that might happen.

It was obvious who the winner of this fight would be but there was still a stare down before the basilisk stared to back away slowly not taking its eyes off the wolf. As the beast disappeared into the darkness of the hole it dug into the cave from like a trap door made of dirt it sealed the entrance behind itself.

The wolf after intimidating its foe walked over to its kin and lay down near it it looked to be emotional over the loss of its possible child and small wines could be heard.

Alice looked at Richard as he was about to move and put her hand on him to stop him she could sense something coming from above their position soon after two smaller wolves could be seen jumping down near the larger alpha wolf about the size of the one they killed.

Had the two broken cover and moved the two wolves would have spotted them. Alice then whispered only loud enough for Richard to hear .

"That is the reason we wait"
