"I appreciate the lift," Eun-ha awkwardly said, hoping to end the silence that had filled up the small compartment of the vehicle for the past fifteen minutes. She had attempted to walk towards the nearest bus stop when they left Seo and Jin's apartment building, but Yoongi's deep, commanding voice stopped her in her tracks.
"Hey! Get in the car," he stood by the car, holding the door open. Impatience written all over his face.
"The bus is fine."
"I already agreed to take you home," he flatly stated, "Don't make Jin and Seo worry about you."
She couldn't argue against that. She knew that Jin had been the one to request the task to Yoongi. Being the loyal friend that he is, Yoongi had unwillingly agreed. She quietly entered the car, and watched as he rounded to the driver seat. He hadn't spoken a word after asking for her address, and placing it into his phone's GPS. The silence was too much for her to take. She couldn't stand it any longer. Using a simple thank you as a reason to break the stifling atmosphere, she finally spoke.
"You're welcome." At first she didn't think he was going to answer, but he surprised her with his hushed reply.
"Will the others be able to attend the wedding?" She quickly asked, trying to keep up the conversation.
"I'm not sure. It's short notice, so I'm not sure if they would be granted a day," he shrugged.
"Hmmm. It'd be disappointing for them if they miss it."
He nodded in agreement. She stared at his profile. He wasn't sporting a cap as he usually did, and his hair was disheveled. She'd never voice it, but he was very handsome, even when he didn't make an effort to look good. 'What is wrong with me?' she chided herself.
She sat up straight, and coughed to clear her mind. She glanced at him again and caught his mouth slightly lifted to the side. He didn't face her, but smirked.
"You didn't strike me as the peeping type," he teased.
She blushed, and crossed her arms, "Your hair caught my attention. I was wondering if you owned a comb."
"Well, at least you're not denying that you were staring," he quipped. He wouldn't admit to the others, especially Eun-ha, but he enjoyed these sort of moments with her. When they weren't budding heads over different views, or getting into a heated match over pointless things. The rare times when they could talk and occasionally tease one another were reminders that she wasn't all bad. He'd deny it if ever asked.
"Whatever. I'll make sure to pass the message to your manager to purchase you hair products," she teased right back.
"Thank you," he laughed, "Any idea who my manager is?"
"No. I think that's to be discussed soon seeing how they set a date."
"You're not holding out on me?"
"No. I promise I really don't know." She held her hand up in a scouts honor pose. Band PD hadn't shared plans for the guys' future, and had been awaiting the marriage so that it would not draw attention from their careers. Given their plans to wed soon, the meeting for their career would be scheduled.
"So when did you decide to switch to Big Hit? When I left you were still at K-Magazine. I only heard about the move because Jungkook mentioned in one of his emails."
Following the reveal of the culprits that leaked the pictures of Jin and Seo, she had stayed at K-Magazine. As promised, Yoongi never revealed to anyone other than BTS, that she was the source that assisted. Once everything had died down, and the court handled the legal aspects, she could focus on her job. No one at the company knew that she was connected to the case, but she always felt unnerved.
It was during one of her nights at Seo's place, that the topic of moving to Big Hit was mentioned. She frequently visited Seo-yeon to keep her from feeling lonely. It was already three months since they had left, and she made it a priority to make time for her friend. Of course, she had swore to Jin that he didn't have to worry because she would be there for Seo.
This wasn't the reason she went over. They were sister, and she would have been there for her regardless if Jin had asked. When Seo suggested that she apply for the vacant management position at Big Hit, she was hesitant at first. She only had a couple of months of experience, and didn't know if she was worthy of working there. With the encouragement of Seo, and the remaining members of BTS, she made the switch.
Yoongi kept his eyes on the road while listening to the events that lead to her moving to the company. If it wasn't for the little nodding of his head, or short one worded replies, it would seem as if he wasn't paying attention. He was amazed at the experience she built on her own. She didn't depend on her connection with Seo or BTS. She worked on her own, and learned from others, while learning from her mistakes.
"You did good, kid." Yoongi sagely said. She grimaced at him.
"Kid? You're not that much older than me, Mr. Min," she puffed her cheeks in annoyance.
He laughed at her disapproval. It was one of the many things they argued about. She resented being treated as a child, especially by him. She secretly sought his approval of her work ethics, and of how hard she performed at her career. He was well known for being a success in the music world, and she wished to be respected, even slightly, by him.
"You're a kid compared to me," he smuggly said. He grinned knowing he was annoying her.
"I'm twenty-eight, that's only three years younger than you."
"Why do you get so offended when I treat you like a little sister? Tae and Jimin don't mind when I call them kid, or treat them like my younger siblings," he raised an eyebrow in speculation. He squinted his eyes as if pondering something. She knew he was going to say something really irritating before he spoke. "Are you upset that I'm not treating you like a woman? Did you want me to see you in that way?"
Her mouth hung open in bafflement. His smile widened, revealing his teeth and gums. He returned his eyes to the road, satisfied that his comment irked her.
"Don't be ridiculous," she rolled her eyes, not taking his bait. "That is the last thing I would want from you."
He grunted at her comment. The last time they had been alone he was preparing to depart for the military. The group had gathered at the dorm, and when the others had stepped out for a while, they had had one of their petty arguments. This verbal altercation had been when he was bidding Seo goodbye, and Eun-ha had given him a look which he perceived as a "I know" stare. At least that's how he had interpreted her look. She had denied his accusation, and accused him of having a guilty conscience for having liked Seo in the past. She told him he should just confess to Jin if he was going to keep taking it out on her for little things like a glimpse. Their disagreement became so heated, that Taehyung and Jimin heard from the next room and rushed in to make sure no one had been in a physical fight.
When they saw the culprits, they sighed at the sight of the two. Eun-ha was sitting on one of the couches with her arms crossed. She was glaring up at Yoongi who towered over her, sharing the same look. The boys had intervened to prevent any hurt feelings. They weren't sure what the fight was about, but they did laugh at how this small girl could infuriate their hyung so much.
"I'm totally shipping them," Jimin laughing told Tae.
"Right?" Tae gleefully agreed, "I don't think there is a girl that would go up against Suga like that. Eun-ha is one brave woman."
"It sucks that we won't get to witness more of these little battles when he returns," Jimin whined.
"We'll be back in a year after they return. We mapped it all out well," Tae said hoping to cheer his friend up.
Yoongi had left three days later. They never cleared the air after that. This was the first time since then that they had spoken. They were equally relieved that they were able to get through the drive without fighting. If it wasn't for that one shared secret, they probably would be close friends. 'Probably,' Yoongi thought, 'She can still be as annoying as the maknae line, if not worse.'
"We're here," he declared, drawing her from her thoughts, and breaking his own.
"Oh," she began to gather her items, and stepped out of the car. She leaned into the window he had opened. "Thank you again. And welcome back."
Not wanting to break the small truce, she gave a friendly wave. He returned the wave with the smallest smile. She watched as he drove away. With a prayer that their next interactions at the company would be this easy going, she went into her building. She found herself growing excited at the thought of going to work tomorrow.
