As Aquila ran, she only glanced quickly at the people that passed by before retracting her gaze, uninterested. There weren't many people traveling on foot like she was, and most people she saw that did run or walk were traveling short distances, only a couple miles.
There were also a couple of carriages that passed by during the duration of her run. She could tell the carriages were powered by a type of energy, but she didn't recognize which type. If she could, she would be able to at least identify what type of celestial body she was on.
Aquila had been running continuously for around six hours now. After spending several hours here, she got a little more used to this atmosphere and was able to breathe easier, allowing her to run faster and longer distances at a time. Of course, neither her current speed nor stamina could compare to her speed and stamina back at home, but it was good enough for now.
Sighing to herself as she ran, Aquila complained to herself mentally about how she didn't travel to more celestial body types back then. What she knew of the different types of energy was only surface knowledge because she paid more attention to understanding celestial energy and trying to decipher the codes of empyrean energy.
Starting to get tired, Aquila pushed herself to run for several more minutes before stopping since her body couldn't keep up even if her mind was determined to keep running. Walking slowly while trying to catch her breath, Aquila tried to recall everything she knew about the different types of energy only to realize that she knew absolutely nothing.
Wanting to sigh once again, Aquila decided that since she would be looking for a library of sorts after arriving in the city, she would take the chance to learn a bit more about the types of energy as well. Because she grew up on a star, she never bothered to study the weaker types of energy such as superlunary, spiritual, and divine energy. Cursing herself in her mind, Aquila starting jogging lightly. If she measured correctly, she should have run around one-hundred and ten miles by now, leaving ten or so miles left. Since that was the case, Aquila chose to run slower and take her time.
Because she was jogging slowly, it took her a little more than one and a half hours to reach the city.
Looking up at the large white gates in front of her, Aquila faced the two guards blocking the gate. Tilting her head slightly, she started scrutinizing the two guards. Both guards were males with bulky muscles and large stature. If she were to get into a fight with them, especially with her lack of knowledge about this world, she might end up in a disadvantageous position. Choosing to stay silent and not do anything yet, Aquila stared at the two guards blankly.
The two guards stared back at her.
After a couple minutes of staring, one of the guards couldn't take it anymore. He himself didn't know why, but he felt a sense of discomfort after staring at her unwavering gaze. Subconsciously, he had released a bit of pressure towards the girl due to his discomfort, but the girl gave no reaction.
The other guard coughed lightly after sensing the pressure accidentally leaking from the other guard. His mental strength was stronger so he was unfazed under her gaze, but the fact that she was also unaffected made him feel confused. Plus, she showed no reaction even after the other guard had subconsciously released his aura, no doubt because he felt uncomfortable under her gaze.
Hearing his cough, Aquila focused her gaze on him and waited for him to speak first.
"Miss, may I ask what you are doing here at Blue Moon City alone at night?" He asked cautiously. Although the clothes the girl was wearing looked cheap and like it was made from poor materials, her aura told him otherwise. Not knowing who she was or what her background was, he decided to take it carefully just in case the girl was someone he couldn't afford to offend.
Aquila understood his obvious thoughts, but she didn't bother with him. Replying with her usual cold tone, she answered his question in a concise manner.
"I just felt like traveling."
"Oh yes, I see..." The guard didn't know what to do or how he should respond. He knew that with how she was dressed, he shouldn't allow her into the city since she might be a homeless person seeking shelter under the roofs of the city. At the same time, her voice and aura made him feel like she was a privileged young miss. His subconscious mind told him he should just wait and see.
"Then... may I ask this miss to wait until sunrise? You see, we have procedures for newcomers entering and..."
His voice trailed off, but Aquila understood what he was getting at. Looking expressionlessly at the guard, she nodded slightly before walking to the side.
The poor guard who mistook her expressionless look as dissatisfaction was terrified. He really didn't believe that she was as poor as her clothes made her out to be.
Regardless, he had a job as the guard of Blue Moon City. He just hoped that if this young girl here was truly a powerful young miss, that she would not make trouble for him.
Looking over to check on the girl, he was surprised to see that she wasn't even looking at him nor did she look frustrated. She was just staring up at the night sky blankly. Her expression was unreadable, and her eyes seemed like they were looking at nothing, yet seeing through everything.
She was completely unreadable. From her posture to her facial expressions to her eyes to her aura, nothing gave away what the girl was thinking.
She was unpredictable, a mystery.
And something was screaming at him that he shouldn't get involved with her. That she wasn't simple. That she was someone who could easily see through your thoughts, but she herself is someone others can't see through.
The guard didn't even know where all these thoughts were coming from. He just took a glance at her, and his mind was giving him all these warnings. He was intrigued.
'Who is this girl?'
