Aquila felt the gaze on her changing from precaution to wariness to confusion to interest. And again, she couldn't be bothered to care about the guard who was thinking a million thoughts in his head. Even without looking at his expression, she knew he was interested in her identity.
'Too bad.' She thought. 'I don't know whose body I took over either.'
Shaking her head mentally, Aquila continued looking at the stars. Actually, she was trying to see if she could find a pattern between them to use as a guide to figure out which world she was on. Unfortunately, she originally didn't recognize many star formations in her galaxy in the first place, so she was naturally unable to recognize any now.
Sighing inside, Aquila really felt like cursing. At this point, she had no idea how to return home. When she found the Ten Thousand Rebirth Orb, she just thought about using it as a last precaution but never bothered to think about how she could return home after using it.
She just never thought it was necessary or that she would ever be in a situation where she would be forced to use it. After all, most people probably forgot she even existed. She never thought anyone would have a reason to look for her. But she was wrong.
Soon, the sky slowly started to get brighter. After all, Aquila had run for around twelve hours in the night and it was night when she arrived on this world, meaning the night had already lasted over twelve hours. Though, it wasn't anything strange for Aquila. She had never visited any planets or moons, but it didn't mean she never traveled worlds before. The difference in hours per day was normal for her. The only question was, how many hours?
As the sky got brighter and started illuminating the surroundings, more people started moving about inside the city. From outside, Aquila could hear people moving about and talking to each other.
'Finally. I was getting bored waiting.' Aquila thought to herself.
Seeing as it was sunrise at last, the two guards looked at each other before nodding. The one who talked to Aquila before would continue guarding the gate while the other would go inside the city and look for the president.
Aquila watched as the shorter guard walked through the city gates while the taller guard whom she exchanged a few words with last night shifted his position to guard the gate better.
Aquila waited "patiently" for the guard to come back. She waited "patiently" to be allowed access to the city. Seriously, she was thirsty!
Meanwhile, the guard at the gate was drenched in cold sweat, and he had no idea why. He felt no pressure coming from the girl. In fact, the aura around her from their first meeting till now was nonexistent. Yet the entire time, just being in her presence made him feel tiny, like an ant looking at a beast. Why was that?
Once again, the idea that she may not be a simple person, that she may have a powerful background popped up in his head again. He felt that the likelihood of that being the truth was getting higher and higher.
Subconsciously inching away from her, he didn't even realize what he was doing. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was his subconscious mind. Or maybe it was the wind that suddenly picked up in front of him that pushed him back.
Feeling the sudden burst of wind behind her, Aquila turned around to see what it was. The moment she turned around, what greeted her was an entire army of men. Men on foot, men on horses, men floating on blue energy, there was even a man sitting on top of the carriage in the center of this whole sea of people.
Blinking her eyes in surprise, Aquila didn't know what to think. If she wasn't wrong, this was to escort the person inside the carriage. Was such an extravagant entourage necessary though?
'Hais... I can't understand rich people. I'll just stand aside, or else who knows how unreasonable they could be. They could say that just seeing my outfit offended them, and no one would refute them.' Aquila thought as she stepped back.
The guard steadied himself and did the same while slightly bowing towards the entourage of men. Out of respect or out of fear, Aquila could only guess. Maybe it was both.
Aquila could swear that after seeing her step back and the guard bow down, the men stood up straighter. Their expressions more haughty, if that was even possible. Their ego probably inflated by a few degrees, and Aquila had to keep herself from facepalming at the sight of that.
It wasn't that she was afraid of them, more like she was too lazy to bother with them if they got offended. If they attacked her, she could easily escape from them. Also, she needed to keep in mind that as of this moment, she didn't even know what world she was on. Heck, she didn't even know if this was a planet or a moon. All she knew was that it wasn't a star. Therefore, it wouldn't be too smart to offend them right now. Maybe later.
She watched as the men and the carriage turned sharply when they got closer to the city gate. If it was someone else, they might have been knocked off balance by the sudden blast of wind due to the sudden movement of so many people all at once. However, the people in question were a well-trained bulky guard and a girl who was not fazed by many things. Aquila watched in amusement as some of the men's faces contorted in dissatisfaction.
She found it amusing how they wanted to mess with her and the guard as if they had nothing better to do.
Thankfully those men didn't try anything else or else they might have really become a laughingstock.
As Aquila watched the last man's retreating figure in the distance, she felt a gaze on herself. Without even looking, she knew it was the guard again. No doubt, he was surprised that she wasn't destabilized by that sudden burst of wind. Paying him no heed, Aquila continued watching the backs of the men leaving.
Just then, the gate of the city was opened from the inside and two figures walked out.
