Days later, at close of school, I came out with a throng of other students each to their various means of transport. I stood under a shade close to the parking lot, trying to figure out how I'd get home. 


"Bye Keren!" Elvira said, as she ambled towards the parking lot. 


Hmm! Why did you stop him from taking you to school? I regretted. He's not your chauffeur. my inner voice reminded. 


I had asked Addison not to take me to school anymore, not because there was a problem, rather, I didn't want to be a burden. Now here I was, confused on how to get my ass home. 


You should have gone with Elvira or Sergio. I thought. Elvira is with her husband and Sergio has a job to go to. I bite my lips, as I glanced at the school bus setting off to Don Carlo settlement. I can't go in. No way!
