Sleepless night

I rolled over and over on my bed, pondering over the question: why did I kiss him? I placed a hand on my lips and squeezed the compass on the other hand. Flashes of those moments crossed my mind again and again, like it had since I came home. I freed my lips, pulled the pillow behind my head and winced at the thought of his confession, “Shit! He loves me?”

If only there was someone in the darkroom to answer. If only there was anybody at all in or outside the room to talk to.

The best person would’ve been my sister, Jochebed. “She always knew everything.” I smiled reflectively.

Jochebed had her fair share of love and romance. I remembered the many letters he sent her. Miguel was his name. He was elder brother to Macario and Oscar’s cousin. “Hmm! Surprising, two sisters in the arms of the Breno brothers.” I soughed.
