Rejecting the alternate teacher

10 A.M, and Miss Tania was not in school. What could be wrong? That’s not the right question. I knew what was wrong with her, and I totally get it. She needed time to grieve, at the same time I’m worried for her. I hoped she did not hurt herself.

Oscar had been trying to speak with me since he arrived that morning. Seeing how affected I was by Miss Tania’s absence he didn’t bring up the Kiss subject. Elvira and the other classmates didn’t make it easy for him. Regular intrusion, snooping around us and eaves-dropping made things rather tough.

I was grateful for this distractions because I wasn’t ready to talk about it. The awkwardness between us was evident, from the way he held my hand, with eyes hovering over me.

“How’re you feeling?” He tilted his head forward, scanning my face with his hand on my wrist.

“A lot better,” I smiled.
