Chapter 57

"You should go back to the hotel and get some rest. It's 3 in the afternoon and you've been at the hospital for 10 hours. He's resting. He's in critical care. The best thing you can do is rest." Iris said as she brought Pearl a coffee. The rest of the guys had went back to the hotel to get some sleep a couple of hours earlier. Their flight left the next day at 4, so they had discussed taking shifts before the three guys went home. "I'm insisting you sleep. We all are." Iris said sternly.

"Ok. Ok I will. But I won't be long. I'll be back in a few hours." Pearl said.

"I'm going to be here until John comes back at 7. I will let you know if his condition changes. I'll come and see you at the hotel after I meet with Jason at 8. Set an alarm for 9 pm, I'll be there around then. We are all shattered by this. Jax and Jason refused to put off the meeting on your demo because you all said it's what Dylan would have wanted. Everything is going to be ok, I can just feel it." Iris said.

"Ok." Pearl said, dragging herself to the nurse. "If he wakes up, tell him I only left for a little while and I will be right back" Pearl told her. "Of course" the nurse said. Pearl and John had tried to find family to call but they only knew of Dylan's grandmother that had passed away. John called the brewery hoping they would know more and they said they were rooting for him and completely devastated but knew of no family. It made Pearl want to be there when he woke up even more.

She made it back to her room and the emotions began to flood. She slid down the door, and began to sob hysterically. This was life and death. This wasn't a cute little game. Dylan had risked his life for her. He took a bullet for her. Her heart sunk and she cried at the thought of losing him. She wasn't leaving New York. She had to find a hotel to stay at, she was sure she couldn't afford another night in this room. She had to change her flight. Call David about work. What a mess.

She gathered the energy to take a shower, Dylan's blood was still all over her legs and skirt. She wrapped herself in a towel and laid on the bed, exhausted. Just as she closed her eyes, her room phone rang.

"Pearl?" a familiar voice said. "Are you okay? I'm so worried about you. How are you? I heard what happened. I lost my shit thinking something happened to you. I'm a fucking mess." It was Rhys. She heard his voice and lost it again. "He almost died saving my life. My small, insignificant life! There was so much blood. I couldn't help him." Said said, her sobs making her difficult to understand but she couldn't stop.

"I know, baby girl. I know. Look, I can't come into town until Monday morning. I have an apartment in Manhattan. It's a studio apartment but it overlooks the park. It's not far from where you are. I want you to stay there. I called Jason and he has Iris working on getting you there tomorrow. When I come into town Monday, I will help with everything else. They don't need me for my scenes again until the following week. I'm coming to you. Just breathe until then. It's going to be ok." He said, sounding very concerned and shaky.

"Ok." Pearl said and hung up. She closed her eyes and felt like only seconds went by before her alarm woke her.
