Chapter 404

"Your majesty, I must say, I was not expecting this." The ambassador to Uganda said.

Christian smiled as he handed the 2 million dollar check over to him.

"You told me that Cancer is becoming a growing problem in your country. This will help to open the wing of the hospital that you said you need." Christian said.

"Your majesty, I came to London to talk about how we can contribute to the museum here. This is not what I expected. Sir, I am at a complete loss. Money like that can do so much for the sick people there. I.. I don't know that to say." He said, tearing up. "You are a great leader. This is how you build a better world, a better era."

"Thank you, I hope so. Say you will take it and do something incredible for the people of your country." Christian said.

"Your majesty, I most definitely will." He said, bowing. "Thank you, thank you so much."

Auggie stood at the back of the room with his arms crossed. When they were alone, Auggie blew his top.

"What in the bloody fuck's sake was that all about?" Auggie asked.

"What?" Christian asked.

"You know what. That was in no way budgeted in or decided. That was an enormous amount of money to give away on a whim!" Auggie said.

Christian stood up and walked over to him. He buttoned his jacket looked into his eyes.

"The royal family is worth over 88 billion dollars. 88. Billion. Bill. Eeee. Un." Christian enunciated. "Take it out of my personal account. Then figure out what just made you second guess me so you won't do it again."

Auggie cleared his throat.

"And so we aren't surprised again, I'll be donating another 2 million to the cancer research fund at the gala in DC next week." Christian said.

"Christian, I think you need to take a moment to think about this. That's a lot of money." Auggie said.

"It's nothing compared to the amount of suffering so many go through, wouldn't you agree?" Christian said.

"Look. I can see that you are going through something, and I know you were too young to take this all on. Anyone would be at 18. But you have to get it together. You have to understand that there are processes in place. Ways that things are done." Auggie said, pacing.

"That's why I have you, to make sure to remind me of them." Christian said, patting Auggie's shoulder and walking out of the study.

Auggie shook his head and poured a drink.

Christian closed his bedroom door and smiled. He had never felt so good. He loved giving that money and he was feeling pride, real pride about his role as king. He pulled out his phone and texted Nora.

"Today was a good day. A really good day. And I have to wonder, how much of it had to do with you?" He sent it.

He got in the shower and smiled. He felt good. Good all over. He was becoming something. He could feel it. He wasn't the young boy he was when he first stepped into this role. He was a man now and he hoped, like his father, a good one. He toweled off and got dressed. His phone beeped and he picked it up.

"*big smile*" Nora typed back. "That was the best thing I've ever read."

He smiled and texted back. "Coming from a Lit major, I find that hard to believe."

"Believe it." She sent back.

He knew it. Deep down in his soul. He was in love with her.
