CHAPTER 45: They Didn't Want That

The two were speechless.

Her last smile was a genuine one filled with helplessness.

Thinking back, they are younger than them.

But they have a duty to uphold.

A duty no other knight were tasked to do.

They may fight against demonic beasts surrounding the Empire to save the people of the Empire.

But this seven are going to roam the world in order to fight the darkness that is spreading.

So what danger were they talking about?

"Let's return, I haven't finished giving you all what you need to train," Saphira spoke to Hunter pulling him back to where the rest were.

"She stepped in, in order to stop him from hurting those knights," Reginald commented.

He knew what was going on in the mind of his son.

He knew because he was the same.

If your precious person always receives negative things, then as someone who treasure them.

Would you leave it as is?

Reginald's answer was the same as Hunter, No.

They will not tolerate it for long.

"That helpless smile," Radcliff Amethyst, Ridge's father, started.

"I think all of us are feeling that way. This is already what was set, there is no point in trying to justify it. You can only accept it. Making all of us helpless," Ferdinand Alphius followed.

That's right, it was already a rule and if they don't step in then who will battle against the darkness?

Can they really stomach it if they are to simply close their Empire off and leave the rest of the world to battle on their own?

Just as the seven of them have the same answer of No.

They knew the seven children are the same.

They didn't want that.

That is why they are helpless, because their nature was just that.

Not only because of the rule but because they feel it just right for them to step in and take the lead.

Because they have stronger physics and stronger beasts.

Acting Hero?

Maybe but they never thought of it that way.

They just thought that they will fight no matter what.

"I really feel like I am getting old too fast because of how much she had matured," Asherton shakes his head.

The rest had on a helpless look as well because they felt the same as him.

"In the morning I need all of you to keep challenging yourselves against the knights of our Empire. Whether of high rank or not. Just challenge yourselves."

That was Saphira's final order before dismissing them not forgetting to tell Hunter that she needs to speak with him.

The knights who were watching started leaving as well.

The generals approached her and Hunter.

"You really have grown so much, Commander Saphira," the general of East Order, was the first to speak.

"It is my pleasure to be complimented by you General Hedley Camden," Saphira replied with respect.

She may be the commander of the highest order but they are still generals of the knights of the whole Empire.

They hold higher position than her.

Because the order will not have a General.

It is a separate entity to all those knights and squads.

"The very first lady commander," The West Order general followed.

"There might be more in the future, general Kyne Birkham."

"We will look forward to such a day," North Order general followed in shaking her hand.

"I do too, general Lancelot Gedney."

"But I look forward in having a chance to spar with you," South Order general was the last.

"We can have it now if you are not busy, general Scott Mitchell."

Scott smiled and shakes his head, "We still have some duty for today. Maybe on another day I will come and look for you."

"I will mostly stay in the training ground as well. You can look for me here sir."

The rest agreed that they do look forward to spar not just with her but with the rest of the Seven Myths.

Of course, Hunter received the same comment before the four generals left to face their own duties.

They were invigorated even more in fulfilling their duties properly because of the responsible attitude she had shown on that day.

Reginald and the rest left when they saw that she was done.

They left swiftly so as not to cause some uproar.

"Shall we go to the usual?" Saphira asked Hunter.

The usual was a spot behind the castle where trees grow together with a calm lake.

Sometimes, it is a place where the last Elite squad and the current Platinum Squad would have their training in the past.

"It didn't change at all," Saphira commented looking around.

She picked up some flat stones and started throwing them towards the lake.

Making them hop thrice or four times.

Sometimes they won't hop at all.

Hunter followed and started doing what she was doing as well.

"I miss this," Saphira commented.

"Yeah, those times were the greatest," he followed.

The sof wind blew and the leaves rustle.

It felt so peaceful that one would just want to sleep under the shade of the tree.

"You need to have more patience Hunter," she finally went to the point after a few more stone throwing.

The wind blew just as Hunter turned to her.

She remained staring at the lake where the sun was being reflected.

Her red orange hair were blown by the wind covering her face.

Hunter walked over and helped her in putting it behind her ear.

"How much more patience should I have?" he asked helplessly.

"We can't use brute force to get them to understand that I am not my sister. That we are two separate entities. That she chose her path and I can choose my own."

She finally looked at him.

"At the same time we couldn't be too soft either. I understand that they talked too much a while ago but it was not yet too much for you to raise your hand against them."

Hunter sighed looking towards the lake.

She smiled and looked towards it as well.

"You need to remember that the most because of your position. We are no longer outside the Empire, you have a position in here," she added.

Hunter looked up to the sky while raising his hand, he spread his fingers as if catching something.

"You know you are the only reason why I lose my patience."
