She entered the library and looked around before stopping at the history section.
Felissa was shock to see that six year old one.
But the six year old one gave her a proper bow before ignoring her completely and getting one of the oldest books.
That shocked her even more, children of the same age as her would usually look for fairytales and picture books. But this young one took a book that was filled with nothing but entries of past Emperors about the darkness.
She tried to reach out but then the child started leaving that part.
Due to curiosity of what she might do with the book, Felissa ended up following her.
She went to the floor to ceiling windows of the library that was overlooking the forest. She sat down and opened the book.
The moment she did, Felissa was mesmerized.
Her red orange eyes were seriously looking at the words inside the book.
She brought out a feathered pen and parchment, writing things from time to time.
At the end, the whole day passed with the kid reading adn writing while she watched on the side.
The kid placed a bookmark leaf on the book she was reading before closing it and standing up.
She was only able to read ten or so pages.
Felissa once again followed her as she returned the book, very carefully from where she had taken it.
She was even stunned when she saw Felissa still being there, so she gave another proper bow before leaving the library.
Felissa of course knew who she was.
She was the younger sister of the host of Vermilion Bird.
Saphira Fiamma.
She was also being considered for Hunter's engagement. Since the two of them were a great pair whether in training or not.
But Felissa didn't expect that the first time she will meet the child was in such a place and such circumstances.
She was once again feeling tired for the day that she just found herself in the library.
And while watching the child seriously reading and writing, she didn't even realize the passage of time.
Unlike before where she always felt the day to be too long, on that particular day, she felt like the day went by in a breeze.
From then, she would see Saphira coming in that section taking out that book, reading and writing and then going home.
It took her five days to finish that not so thick book because of all her writing.
Her appearance in the library was not a consistent one and the time she used weren't the same either.
Felissa knew it was because the little kid was being trained together with the rest of the hosts of the mythological beasts even though she does not hold Vermilion Bird.
She was entitled because she still holds a Phoenix, who is closest to the mythological beasts in strength.
And every single time that Saphira would come, Felissa would find herself watching her seriously read.
"Don't you find that book too difficult?"
After a while the Empress could no longer hold it in and approached Saphira to ask her.
"It was, your majesty," Saphira replied with her childish voice.
Her red orange eyes looking up at Felissa were filled with innocence.
"Then did you understand what you were reading?"
She slowly walked over and sat down beside Saphira.
This was the first time she sat close to this young child.
"That's why I have my pen and parchment. I write down the words I don't understand and then have my grandfather explain to me what it was, your majesty."
Felissa looked down at the parchments and saw the not so neat writing on them.
"I am still working on my writing, please don't mind its messiness," Saphira said bashfully.
"But then won't you forget what you have read?" Felissa became even more curious.
Saphira grinned, her little white teeth displaying themselves to Felissa.
Her dimples that weren't too obvious became obvious and her eyes twinkled looking proud of herself.
"My memory is just that amazing. I can read them once and memorize them. So even if I don't understand some words now, once it was explained to me then I recall what I read. I would be able to remember and fully understand everything."
Felissa blinked her eyes at the cuteness being displayed to her.
"You're too cute," she couldn't help but to blurt out.
Saphira was shock once again before she scratched her cheek, "My sister had been telling the same thing and would even pinch my cheeks."
Felissa giggled, "But then why are you studying such difficult things?"
When she thought of it, as days passed and as the pages she haven't read lessened.
The time spent writing became shorter and shorter.
Felissa now understood why, because she already knew most of the words. That she don't need to write them down again.
"Uhmmm well I felt like I need to be on this section on the first day. And when I saw her majesty, I understood what my hunch was telling me," she slowly explained.
As a child, Felissa could see that Saphira is a sensible one.
Someone who was mature for her own age.
"Her majesty, seems to be down back then. I just thought maybe someone accompanying you without trying to pester you is better than having no one."
Felissa was completely shock at what Saphira had just said.
"And then..."
Saphira raised the book she was currently reading, "I found these books being too enjoyable that I just kept coming back. They were difficult at first but as time goes on, they became fun to read."
Felissa's face turned gentle, "Can I hug you?"
Though confused, Saphira nodded her head and Felissa came close to hug her small body.
"Thank you," was all the Empress could say as she felt warmth enveloping her whole being.
Saphira reached out her little hands and patted her making Felissa be on the verge of tears.
