CHAPTER 49: A Talent That Appears Rarely

"And these..."

Reginald gave him the papers that Saphira had been writing on.

Reginald sighed, "I guess I finally understand why she had chosen her."

He looked down at the papers, "If the Empress have seen her taking interest in these stuffs then..."

"Oh you didn't know?" Reginald had the look of shock in him after hearing what he had just said.

"Know about what?"

"Felissa and Saphira had been in the library together. Though I think they only spoke to one another today. Mostly Felissa was just watching Saphira read the book," Reginald explained.

"This child never said a thing about. Simply asking me questions about what she was reading," Asherton shook his head.

Reginald simply nodded his head, Saphira really was but a pure child.

Asherton looked down at Saphira before saying goodbye to Reginald.

Asherton sighed as he traveled back home with Saphira in his arms.

He had seen the potential in Saphira, during their training, she can assess the situation and make the best of it.

And the one who she supports the most and can support her the most was none other than Hunter.

That is why Reginald had included her in the candidates list.

It doesn't matter if her brain was of top notch or not when it comes to royalty duties.

They can just teach her then.

If she can be a good strategist and support to the next Emperor that is good enough for their Empire.

Plus it was visible that she has the intelligence for the other aspects.

The only thing they haven't seen were that of the main duty of the Empire and the royal duties.

But then she came home one day after coming from the library with papers that had some writing which is too difficult for a child of her age to understand, even for a child at the age of ten.

When he saw they were all related to the darkness, he asked her where she had seen them and she replied that she had read a book about them in the palace library.

Though he thought she was simply curious, he didn't expect the days after would be the same of her coming to him asking about the difficult words.

Then she would speak about things he never would have thought himself.

Such as a way to poison the demonic beasts.

They were of darkness so it was normal that they are to have poisons and such but to poison them as well, no strategists have thought of such a way of killing the demonic beasts.

They have the mentality that demonic beasts could be immune to poisons but when Saphira pointed out the physics of the demonic beasts, written down on the history book.

He was enlightened that he had people test out her theory.

He received the report a few days ago that there are those who were poisoned.

He looked down at her, "You are a talent that appears rarely, who would have thought that you will be showing it at such a young age."

He was worried because talent like hers will become a point where nobles would want to exploit her.

"I will have to teach you never to bow down to anyone," he said caressing her cheeks.

This is where she got the trait that she must never be bullied.

Saphira frowned before returning to her deep sleep.

Asherton chuckled before looking outside the carriage.

(End Of Flashback)

"You seemed troubled, your majesty," Saphira started while they sat down in silence for a while.

"Do I? Isn't it that you are the one troubled right now?" Felissa asked in return as she poked the cheek of her son.

Must be because Saphira was there and that they are within the Empire, Hunter had truly fallen into a very deep sleep.

Just like when he appeared the first time and she was able to sleep deeply.

The trust between the two of them was that high that they can let go of their alertness without worry.

"He was so tired, going over from place to place and reporting different kinds of things. I feel bad for him when he just arrived, he barely had time to sleep," Felissa said looking at her son's pale face.

Saphira have noticed this as well, the reason she talked with him in this place. A place where people could relax because of the peaceful vibe it gives.

She had the intention of letting him rest all along.

"You are avoiding my question, your majesty," Saphira pointed out.

Felissa's smile became strained.

"I think an Empress will always be troubled by so many things," she replied.

Saphira shook her head.

"You are being troubled by your family?"

Seeing as Felissa didn't want to say anything, Saphira just went straight to the point.

Felissa was stunned and even though she tried to hide it, Saphira have already seen it.

"Because of the crown princess?" Saphira continued asking.

Felissa looked at her with wonder, "How are you able to speak of it with confidence? How can you be so sure and ask me that the moment you see me, when no one ever realized what was going on?"

Saphira smiled, "Maybe because they were already used to how you always act? Are you angry your majesty? Towards your family?"

Felissa's family were among the Counts of the Empire.

And of course, they have friends all over the place.

Now that Saphira was at a disadvantageous situation, it was natural for their friends to approach them.

Promises here and there.

Saphira was well aware of such kind of mentality.

"It is fine, the Emperor and the princes are my family. I won't let my parents or siblings sway me into making my family suffer."

She smiled with sadness as she looked down at Hunter once again.

"But you shouldn't be mad your majesty. Your starting to hate them that way," Saphira pointed out making Felissa look back at her.
