CHAPTER 108: Why Don't You Try That?

"Do you want them to come?" he asked in return.

"Maybe? It is not bad to expect even just for a bit," she answered with a laugh.

Vermilion Bird remained silent while she rested.

He was just glad that he was fully recovered, if not and he will have to fall asleep again, then she will be left here all alone.

No matter how at odds they were, if he were to compare, he is much suited to Saphira than Raynisha.

'I wonder if it were Saphira who became your host, would you be happier?'

Raynisha once asked him this and at that time he didn't give an answer.

'Maybe you were right after all, Raynisha,' he thought before he too rested.

His rest does not necessarily mean that he will return to Saphira.

With him being fully recovered, he could actually rest outside of his host.

The same goes with the rest.

The only reason they chose to stay inside their hosts was because they'd attract more attention than necessary if they were to stay outside.

The two of them continued their days like this until one day.

"Why?" Saphira stared gravely.

"I was prepared but this isn't this too much?" she added.

"Get a grip of yourself," Vermilion Bird told her while being vigilant.

On their twentieth day in this island, someone finally appeared.

But it was not among those they expected, instead it was someone that caused their hearts to ache.

"You are killing too much of our pets, how can we let you do as you please?" the one in front asked.

She has black long hair with black clothes, matched with purple lips and eyes.

One way to explain it, characteristics of darkness.

"If I can just fight while having my eyes closed," Saphira laughed bitterly.

But she knew she couldn't be swayed, since she is now in front of her then all she can do is fight.

She has no other choice but to fight her.

"I don't know what your current strength is but I will surely get that body back... Raynisha."

The one who suddenly appeared in front of Saphira on this fateful day was Raynisha herself.

Gone were her red hair and red eyes, gone was her snow white skin.

Instead they were black and purple and her skin was pale white instead of the snow white one.

Raynisha just stared at her before she raised her hand and black fire appeared on them.

Saphira took a deep breath and faced her head on, there is no point in feeling anything else.

She already knew that when she didn't find their bodies, this would be their outcome.

That they will surely become forces of evil.

Forces that will give everyone more pain than necessary.

'We are but pitiful beings in the end,' Saphira thought as she and Vermilion Bird battled with Raynisha and the demonic beasts.

This time around, she only has one chance to escape but she didn't want to use that as much as possible.

Because she still has no idea just where are the rest and what are really brewing behind the scene.

But at the very least she found out that this place was like the factory of the demonic beasts that was now loitering all over the world.

She coughed up blood when Raynisha's attack hit her hard.

'First time having battle against this kind of things is really difficult. I have no idea of their strength or how they attack,' she though before evading another attack.

'Why don't you try that?' Vermilion asked through their link.

He was currently busy on attacking the demonic beasts.

'Incorporating it will not give off too much notice, right?' he added.

Saphira thought for a bit before nodding her head.

She readied herself and created another attack.

But this fire seemed to have something different on it.

A bit of something that glitters was surrounding it.

As she did use this to attack, she noticed that it was even more effective than when she was using her fire.

'But...'

Her mana was being drained faster as well.

She knew she needed to give more time to herself in order to preserve her mana while prolonging their fight in order to ensure that she can see more the way Raynisha fights.

As she did, she could see that even Raynisha was losing power as their fight were stretched longer.

'So they are still the same, they don't have unlimited mana of some sort. Or should I call it evil mana for now?'

She jumped down the tree she was hiding in when another attack came to burn it down with black fire.

'Ah I suddenly remembered that as a child not once did I win against Raynisha. I wonder if it is still the same right now?'

She was not undermining herself but if the demonic beasts became stronger doesn't that mean that the ones leading them will become stronger as well?

She shook her head, she can't be distracted now.

She can feel that Vermilion Bird is close to his limits as well, if the two of them couldn't find a way out from this then they only have that choice left.

All through out the fight Saphira could tell that she won't be able to defeat Raynisha at her current state.

'If we are to get out of here, you'll have to take it back,' Vermilion Bird spoke to her.

'Are you sure you really are fine now?' she asked him.

'Hah! Worried now? I have been able to get back all of my strength, that puny thing is no longer of use to me.'

Saphira's brows twitched as Vermilion Bird called it puny.

'That puny thing is what allowed you to recover though,' she argued back.

Vermilion bird simply scoffed.

The time it takes to return it back wasn't short, it will be a very long one, so now it won't be possible for the two of them.

'But…'

Saphira started before attacking Raynisha again.

'Will we be fine until then?'

She laughed in defeat at how perilous their current situation is.

She really didn't expect this outcome, she didn't know that this place was a factory.

And that they are monitoring it as well.
