The three of them could only agree because that is the truth of the matter.
No matter what they were seeing, it was something that is not needed as of this moment.
"Hunter," Saphira faced Hunter.
He looked at her seriously.
"I know my own limitations."
He frowned instantly.
"What I mean is I took it because something inside me needs it."
Now he was furrowing his brows in confusion at what she was once again talking about.
"I can't really tell you now because I myself am still confused about it but I am seriously telling you. I won't do what I did if I will just cause damage on myself."
She scratched her cheek before holding his hand.
"And I don't want you to be in danger. Because it had taken root in you that you have no way of dispelling it other than what I did."
He looked straight in her ruby colored eyes.
The gold hue was no longer there.
"Once I get all the answers, I will surely tell you. So please don't be upset for what I've done because I don't want you hating me."
"I will never hate you," he instantly said.
Vermilion Bird rolled his eyes when they started speaking in such a way.
He nudged Qirin that they should just leave the two of them.
And so they did.
Saphira smiled at him, "The darkness I took from you isn't too much. I know if I took too much of it, I will be the one to be devoured by the darkness."
Then she thought of something, "That is why I am taking things only I know will not cause me damage."
"Could it be... back in the empire. The things you have done, especially that general. You..."
She smiled and nodded her head.
"If left alone, surely the darkness in them will fester their emotions to the point of no return. I just helped take it away in order to make sure that the Empire is safe while we're not there."
"General Lancelot is..." he spoke.
"He has the biggest darkness among everyone, I have no choice but to do it. After all he is also one of those who should be protecting the Empire."
After thinking a bit.
"Even with Esther?"
She nodded her head, "I have no intention for Esther but since it was already there and just as I said, something inside me needs the darkness. I just took it."
"Your fire?"
"Oh you get the gist of it so easily," she replied with a laugh.
"As you can see, I can't have people see me sucking away the darkness, can I? I can only use my fire to cover it up."
He nodded his head, she really has so much in her.
"But sometimes, their darkness will disappear with just speaking alone. I talk them out of it and made them realize that there really is nothing to worry about or that they were really wrong in what they did. Once their darkness disappears, the one inside me will strengthen. That is the safest part of devouring darkness but not all the time, it can be used."
He understood what she meant.
Sometimes no matter how much you talk with people, as long as deep in their heart, they don't accept what she was saying then it will be for a naught.
'I did do that to your mother but I will not tell you about it, lest you worry when it was already over,' she stuck out her tongue in her mind as she thought of this.
"Back when those three sincerely apologized to you. Before we returned to the Empire..."
She nodded her head, "Yes, I felt it back then and that is also the first time I felt it and found out that I have such an option."
"Then what's inside you is..."
She chuckled, "You really are smart aren't you. Vermilion Bird and I thinks the same as what you are thinking right now. But it was still an egg so I couldn't really say that it was the real deal."
"Why? I mean how was it in you?" he asked again.
Saphira shook her head, "I really have no idea myself. Eight years ago after I woke up from the coma, that egg is already inside me."
He reached out his hand and cupped her cheek, "Why is it that it is you who has to have more responsibility than the rest?"
She smiled with a look of resignation, "I also have no idea myself. I am the laziest among us but I have to take in so much. I really am miserable after all."
She laughed it off because it was already there, she can only face it.
"Anyway, just tell me something before you do things that is still dangerous no matter how small," he told her knocking on her head.
She rubbed the spot, "I know, I'm sorry I did it as if it was nothing. I will surely tell you the next time."
"And I will make sure to face the darkness differently from now on. I won't have you saving me because of my own carelessness."
Saphira bit her lower lip.
If you ask her now, then she will only say one thing, her heart had just jumped up and down.
Hunter was a handsome young man and she was a maiden with a young heart.
She blinked a few times before turning around.
"Let's go back now shall we? Even though I just woke up, I really want to sleep again."
With that she walked fast back to their camp.
Hunter raised an eyebrow because it didn't escape his eyes the way her face turned red, reaching even her ears.
He chuckled before following her.
'I can clearly tell you just fell deeper in love with Qirin's brat,' Vermilion Bird said when he returned inside her.
'...'
He raised an eyebrow when Saphira didn't had a retort this time.
'Never thought the day would come that you will be left speechless by your emotions.'
