CHAPETR 186: A Vow Will Always Be A Vow

His face instantly darkened.

"You are lying... You are lying.... YOU SMILED AT ME!!!"

Everyone was taken a back, it seems that he had become delusional because of Carmilla's beauty.

Though they had heard that he was a bit conceited when it comes to his face back in their empire.

No matter how big the world is, it is fine to check onto the royal families.

So the emperor and teh ehads had actually a lot of idea about the rest of the empires and kingdoms.

Rumours or truth.

But they can see that this one was not only a rumour. It seems to have been the truth.

"They made you say it, right? They didn't want you to marry someone from another empire," the prince wasn't letting go.

The others turned agape, he was being unreasonable.

"You are right, your highness."

Everyone turned to the door when another person speak up.

"As one of the most beautiful lady of the empire, we couldn't just let her be taken so easily by another empire. She was one of our pride after all."

Carmilla's eyes twinkled in joy upon seeing him walking so gallantly.

"Just as I thought," the prince growled.

The emperor glanced at Asherton.

Asherton shook his head, he has no idea what his son was currently doing.

"And as one of the strongest knights of the empire, it is our duty to test that the person whom we will hand the lady over to is capable in protecting her."

Everyone blinked, was there such a rule in the empire?

"I have heard that you are among the strongest in your empire as well. If you win against me then lady Carmilla will give you a chance to prove your love to her. If you lose then I apologize but we will not hand her over."

Asherton almost laughed out loud.

Archie wasn't simply among the strongest, he was among the top.

He could be known to be second only to the crown prince, Reginald.

And Reginald is known to be one of the strongest knights in the whole world.

Isn't it obvious that Archie was saying that I will send you packing.

"And we wish that it will end here," Archie added as she ended up in front of all of them.

Carmilla had a little pout on while looking at him aggrieved.

His back was facing her so he couldn't see it but the prince was able to see it.

In the end, he interpreted it that she was glaring at the knight because he was making things difficult for them to be together.

"I shall accept it then," he arrogantly replied.

In reality, if Carmilla didn't act that way, he would have made it difficult and may not accept but because of the beautiful misunderstand, he so easily accepted it.

"Then the emperor and your knights shall be the witness. A vow that if you lose you will stay away from this empire. If you win the lady shall give you a chance."

Asherton was already trying so hard from laughing.

The prince was stupid, Archie was telling him that Carmilla will give him a chance but it doesn't mean that they will be together.

"I vow to follow the rules," the prince agreed, Archie did the same.

The knights with him had been thinking all this time.

This person seemed familiar to them but they couldn't point out just who it was.

Though they really do wants to bury themselves somewhere right now, their prince is too much.

It was obvious that the lady didn't like him, why must he act so willful?

But they should no longer be too shock because it was how he had usually been.

The only problem was that this was not their empire but the biggest empire out there.

If they so wish, a war might end up happening if the emperor of Qillian empire were to be offended by him.

Too bad, because the prince didn't come here with the permission of the emperor.

The emperor was unaware and teh five of them were just pulled along because of the prince's threat.

They just wished that they could leave peacefully.

The people around created a temporary battle ground within the place they were at.

A barrier was placed around it in order not to cause damage on the hall.

Archie pulled out his sword, the same with the prince.

"I'm glad I cam to check on things, there is something fun going on around here."

The emperor looked at his side.

At some point, without him realizing it, Reginald was now standing beside him.

"Geez, this man is seriously too slow. He should have admitted it from the very beginning then there would be lesser hassle," he commented.

The emperor didn't reply and simply glanced at him.

Of course, everyone was aware that the battle was a one sided one.

Everyone other than the prince and his subordinates.

It was not until the prince was on his knees that the subordinates remembered who Archie was in the battlefield.

He was the shadow of the crown prince of Qillian Empire, known to be ruthless and fast in the battlefield.

With this outcome, they knew, he had challenged the crown prince with no intention of letting the crown prince win.

"Y- You cheated!!!"

The prince couldn't accept it as he was defeated so easily despite going all out.

"You can try and ask those who are with you. I fought you fair and square," Archie replied putting back his sword to its sheath.

"Ruthless indeed," Reginald commented.

"He didn't even gave him a chance to have a fight," he added with a laugh.

The prince wanted to rebuke more but the emperor stood up.

"All of us were the witness to this fight. You have lost fair and square, please uphold the vow that you have just made," he said with his voice filled with authority.

The prince couldn't say more as he really did vowed to do what was asked.

There was really no fould play either.

All he could do was to leave with a stomach filled with anger.

No matter where, a vow will always be a vow.
