CHAPTER 240: May Have A Different Life

"Elise!!"

As the two of them opened the door, they were welcomed with the thick scent of blood.

And the scene on the table caused them to throw up.

"What the-"

The people inside were shock when tehy were interupted.

But before they could get angry, Reginald and radcliff followed.

both their faces were filled with nothing but terror at the sight in front of them.

(End Of Flashback)

Ridge shook his head while his hands had turned cold after remembering that scene.

"She was opened up, her heart could be seen beating right in front of us. After that we just threw up and everything seemed spinning, until our fathers tasked people to bring us out."

He chuckled bitterly, "We were powerless as children. If we had more power then maybe they would have listened, they would have agreed easily without second thoughts."

It was only because the head of the poison building at that time was working for so long in the palace already that the trust Reginald with them was high.

He really didn't expect that they would do such a thing to children adn other people who were deemed special.

"It took us a month or two to recover from the shock, we only heard that she died in that experiment of theirs... and was buried near the orphanage. And the people involved were all beheaded."

He sighed heavily after he had told them the story.

Hunter didn't utter a single word.

No one actually did.

They sat there in silence until they heard some commotion.

They rushed back to the room where Elizabeth stays and found her there screaming in fear.

Hunter walked over and calmed her down.

"Let's let her rest," Saphira said seeing as Elizabeth was still trembling even while Hunter was beside her.

She knew it must be because of their presence.

She walked over to Hunter while the rest leave the room, apologizing to those who were disturbed by her screams.

No one seemed to have recognized her.

"Calm her down and explain to her the situation. We won't be able to properly move forward if she remains this way."

Hunter looked at her and nodded, she smiled before leaving the room.

She went out of the inn and walked over to an open space where she can swing her sword.

"You seemed disturbed during the story telling."

Saphira didn't look at the people who came over.

Stormie and Willow looked at one another.

They walked to the side and waited until she finally stopped swinging her sword.

She sighed as she placed the sword back to its sheath and sat down on the grass looking up at the night sky.

"I... also know her... Elise."

The two were stunned but they chose to simply walk over and sit beside her.

"More Like I was the reason they found her and she was placed in such situation."

She bit her lower lip as she gritted her teeth.

When Ridge spoke of the name a while ago, she finally realized why she felt familiar towards the princess.

"In one of the outing that our father brought us to. I found Elise in a cave, without anyone around. She only knew that her parents had died then but she can't remember anything else."

Saphira took a deep breath, "I think a need a drink over this."

It was heavy, the guilt she was feeling is heavy.

"Shall we return to the inn or should we just bring over some light beer?" Stormie asked her.

Saphira shook her head, "I never wanted to drinka ny beer again, light or not."

Willwo looked at Stormie and whispered to her.

Stormie stood up and left.

The reason for these words from Saphira was simple.

She was late for Hydra Kingdom because she was drunk.

If she weren't then she would have felt the movement much sooner.

"Then let's drink this."

Willow took a bottle from Stormie after she returned and handed it over to Saphira.

Saphira looked at what she was giving her and chuckled.

"Milk?"

Willow shrugged helping STormie in opening her bottle before she opened hers.

"I've read in one of those novels that a heroine loves drinking this instead of beer. We can try it."

Saphira chuckled and drank from her bottle.

She smacked her lips together, "Yeah it has a different impact but it do sooths you somehow."

Willow smiled and hit Stormie's bottle with hers in a light way.

After another few minutes of silence.

"During the return journey, we found out that she has a self healing ability at the same time, Fifi..."

Saphira paused, it has been so long since she spoke about her Phoenix regarding a past story.

She took a deep breath and drank before continuing.

"Well, Fifi, felt connection towards Elise and realized that she has their blood. Elise must have been saved by a phoenix blood in the past allowing her to gain their capability of self healing."

She sighed, "We told her not to show it to anyone because they are unique. But at that time, the families are being pressured over the trainings and all, we can't haev her in the family. And father decided to bring her to the orphanage."

She wasn't against it, because she was acquainted with a lot of children in the orphanage as well.

And so, she befriended Elise and would visit her from time to time after they came back.

"Until one day I was told that she was adopted to a faraway place. I was so happy for her because not everyone could be adopted."

Saphira shook her head, "I didn't know she actually experienced all those horrible things. If only... If only I didn't found her maybe others would have and she may have a different life now."

Willow placed a hand on her shoulder, "Saphira, everything happens for a reason. You found her and brought her to the empire and that is the end of it. It wasn't you who took her from the orphanage."

"That's right, it was no longer in your control that they would have found her and if you didn't get the chance to find her, she might have died in that cave," Stormie followed.

Saphira laughed before finishing her drink, "Your right, this drink feels much better than beer."

She stood up, "Shall we go back?"

They knew even though she had accepted their words, the guilt remains in her heart.
