CHAPTER 261: Not A Good Joke At All

Hunter didn't have a wink of sleep as he watched Saphira frown in her sleep, seemingly having some difficulties in her rest.

He tried his best to pat her and massage the space between her brows in order to help her out.

Early that morning, the rest had woken, seeing as he was still focused on Saphira, they have decided to get him some breakfast instead of calling him out.

The guilt of what had happened and the thought of her getting hurt because of his own promises, they knew the one having the most difficult time as of this moment was actually Hunter, himself.

As for what Saphira would do once she wakes up, that is all up to her as well.

They will just stay on the sideline and see how things will unfold.

Never in their dreams and even in their waking hours would they believe the thing that will happen once Saphira opened her eyes.

It was close to noon and the one beside her was none other than Hunter.

Even those from Atria Kingdom did not dare approach them so brazenly after what had happened the night before.

They were the ones in the wrong and Saphira's tears meant that they had pushed her to her limits.

Lily had told Saphira that as long as she won't explode then she can deal with her emotions on her own.

The exploding that she meant was for Saphira to actually end up hurting others due to her uncontrolled emotions.

But the outcome was better than what Lily had expected because the last barrier that was stopping Saphira from fully utilizing her capabilities broke.

With that, Lily was sure she will become even stronger.

Though she really did not expect that Saphira would request for something like having a temporary memory lost.

After seeing more than one glimpse of Saphira's predecessor in the light ability, Lily could feel the tremendous amount of loneliness within her and Lily knew that this would have swallowed the past host.

As for what happened to the last host for them to have no memories of them and what baffled her even more was the fact that even her company, the first host of Qirin, was actually not remembered.

Lily felt like she knew the answer but at the same time something was stopping her from remembering it.

This caused her to think that it must be a part of being the guardian, even if you are the guardian of a predecessor, once you are reborn, you will forget that person.

Leaving that matter aside, she focused on helping Saphira a bit in this request of hers.

"Well, I guess we can't come out to accompany her during this time if she really wants to know who she will be without all this power," Vermilion Bird commented while they look at Saphira's consciousness that was slowly being wrapped by gold threads.

This consciousness of hers is the one that will store the memories that will disappear from her physical body.

Lily nodded her head, even though they are in a perilous situation, if the host is not emotionally or mentally stable then the light ability would be of no use.

One must have the clear headedness in order to use the ability to its maximum capability.

And now around noon, Saphira finally opened her eyes.

"How do you feel?" Hunter asked instantly.

Saphira's clear eyes was then filled with confusion and her beautiful brows frowned deeply.

She stared at his face without uttering a single word.

Hunter thought she was still mad about what happened the past few weeks and just as he was contemplating as to how he should start in his apology, he was dumbfounded by what he heard from her lips.

"Who... are you?"

He stared blankly at her and seeing the genuine confusion in her eyes, his heart thumped.

She was not joking, the thing she asked was a serious matter.

He tried to calm his beating heart, "Do you... Do you know your name?"

The lady in front of him thought for a bit, she looked like she had a hard time remembering what he was asking her.

"Sa... phira?"

She replied in a question manner.

As if she was not sure of what she had just said.

"Lily? Vermilion Bird?" Hunter tried to call.

Silence followed and the face of the girl in front of him became even more confused.

"Qirin!!" his tone became urgent.

Saphira's eyes went wide when suddenly a bird that seemed like not a bird came out from his body.

Hunter's heart dropped seeing her reaction.

She was genuinely shock in what she had just witnessed.

"Reach out to Vermilion Bird," he spoke to Qirin.

But Qirin had started trying to reach out the moment Saphira showed confusion in her eyes and asked Hunter who he was.

Yet, to no avail.

Vermilion Bird was not replying, Qirin could not even feel him just like when they all thought he was already gone but was actually hiding inside Saphira.

He shook his head towards Hunter.

Hunter pursed his lips, "Call for the rest then."

Not long after, the other six rushed to the tent and are now looking at Saphira with their eyes filled with horror.

"Uhmmm are you okay?" Saphira asked seeing their looks of disbelief and horror.

She couldn't understand what was going on.

Her mind was blank and all she could think of was the fact that her name was Saphira.

"Saphira, this is not a good joke at all," Stormie couldn't help but say.

Saphira became even more confused, "Joke?"

"Come on, no matter what had happened, you can't close yourself off to the point of actually losing your memories. Even Vermilion Bird and Lily could not be called out," Stormie said in an aggrieved tone.

"I'm sorry, I really don't understand what you are saying right now," Saphira said genuinely.

Stormie wanted to speak more but Willow stopped her.

"With the current situation, getting mad at her won't help any of us. For now, what we should be doing is to understand her current condition, whether her memories will return or not."
