CHAPTER 266: I'll Find The Answer

Elizabeth watched Ridge closely as he spoke about Saphira's love for her friends.

And then she remembered the things that happened the night before, Saphira didn't only cry because of herself but instead she cried even more and grieved even more for her friends.

She slowly nodded her head as she too looked towards where Saphira was.

Saphira had opened her eyes and stood up, Hunter became alert the instant she stood up and approached her instantly.

Saphira was smiling while Hunter listened attentively, soon the two of them walked off to another side, to which she could remember that the people said a river was over there.

"I was really wrong," she muttered.

"I was lost due to my memories being gone but after knowing your relationships, I should have known better," she smiled deprecatingly.

The calmness she felt while being with Hunter caused her to actually hurt someone as precious as Saphira.

She can tell with the way she treated her friends and the way she cared for them that Saphira was someone who should be treasured by those around her.

Ridge sighed, "We all make mistakes and no matter how much we apologize, we surely will still carry a burden from that mistake. Nevertheless, that was our choise. We chose to walk on that path and the outcome is the product of it. In the end, we will also be the only ones who should carry that burden..."

He looked at her with his eyes saying, 'You do understand what I mean, right?'

"Because we have no one to blame other than ourselves for choosing that path especially when no one has instigated us to choose it," she continued what he wanted her to know.

Ridge smiled, the very first smile he had given Elizabeth during the whole time that they were together.

"And with those mistakes and guilt, we will surely mature and grow up to become a better person than we already are," he added before standing up.

"Don't feel too guilty now, you have realized and accepted everything. As long as you know what you have done and will not do it again, then you will be fine."

He turned to leave but then remembered something, he looked back at her.

"We all genuinely wish for your memories to return and for you to be with your family. I am currently trying to find a way to help you and discussed things with Saphira. In the end, we found nothing. But when she spoke about you changing yourself for the better and understanding the meaning behind it, I can tell with confidence that princess..."

Elizabeth listened carefully.

Ridge smiled again, "Be courageous, I think the reason you have lost your memories was because you are scared to remember what you had experienced during that time. But since you are the only one who survived the ordeal, I wish for you to be courageous enough to remember it and continue living for their sake."

After saying all that, he left for real and allowed Elizabeth to think properly about what he had just said.

Admittedly, Elizabeth knew it was her weak heart that was stopping her from remembering.

She can tell that every single time she tried, she would be very scared to the point of collapsing.

But if she don't remember then will she remain as this empty shell relying only on the people who claimed that they are there to protect her?

She can tell through Saphira's eyes that her wods of wanting her to remember was really genuine.

Elizabeth looked towards Saphira, who was now returning with Hunter.

She too currently has no memories but as compared to her who never wanted to be left alone by Hunter, it was the other way around for these two.

It was Hunter who was not leaving Saphira alone and yet Elizabeth could tell that Saphira is fine on her own.

Her courage in a sudden unknown world, Elizabeth was encouraged by it.

She needs to grow up not simply in the body but as a whole.

On the other hand.

"You really can rest though, everyone was around, I won't be in too much danger," Saphira said to Hunter.

From the day before, Hunter had been watching her closely. And even though she had explained that she does not feel scared especially to the other six, who introduced themselves as her friend and childhood friend, Hunter still didn't want to leave her side.

"I told you I pro-"

"You promised me yes but look at you now, don't you look tired?"

Hunter pursed his lips, he had indeed not rested for the past two days, since she had broken down. But he couldn't leave, especially since she is currently vulnerable when it comes to attacks.

Vermilion Bird and Lily was not responding and her control over her ability has completely returned to zero. Using it would only harm her.

She can't even lift her sword properly.

In other words, Saphira is now a baby when it comes to fighting.

She was on the same league as the current Elizabeth.

Saphira sighed seeing how reluctant he was in resting, "I really did cause quite a trouble with losing my memory."

"It is not trouble," he frowned.

She laughed, "I can see just how guilty you are for what happened. But if you really want to apologize properly and stick to my side then you need to always be in your top condition. What if you are too tired and when an attack comes you ended up being unable to exert all of your strength? Wouldn't you not only endanger me but yourself as well?"

Hunter was left with no retort, Saphira had always been particular when it comes to protection.

She had been clear of things they need to do and understand when they utter the word protection.

Saphira sat back to her resting spot a while ago before she went to wash up. Then she looked up at him before patting the spot beside her.

"Come sit and rest, I will stay awake and when an attack happens, I will surely wake you up."

Left with no choice, Hunter followed her instruction.

The moment he closed his eyes and relaxed, sleep instantly came to him.

Saphira knew he had fallen asleep and she couldn't help but sigh.

'I know I'll find the answer to the reason why I lost my memories, so please wait a bit more.'

She can tell that once she find that answer, all her memories will return.
