CHAPTER 333: I Am All Ears

(Flashback)

"Brother Gideon."

Gideon and Lerissa were about to leave when Saphira called for him. Lerissa excused herself and the two of them were left alone.

"You never called me that way. Is it a bigger request than what you just asked? A personal one maybe?" Gideon started.

Saphira smiled, "Well I guess you could say that it is a personal one."

"Go on I am all ears."

"Hunter had been hesitating but since it determines the future of the two of us, I will tell you now. We... wish to leave once the battle is over."

Gideon blinked but recovered very shortly.

"I guess we could say I had been anticipating it already," he said shocking Saphira.

"I mean... we are currently taking your happiness away from you, for the rest of your life."

She glanced at the path that Lerissa took.

Gideon chuckled, "Yeah I know."

"I... I'm sorry."

"Oh don't apologize, I mean we took your happiness all your life as well," Gideon shrugged.

His face says that he really was expecting this outcome and that he had already prepared himself.

"But I mean, your life ahead is what will be affected. We are young-"

She stopped when Gideon raised his hand.

"How sure are you that you will live long after this?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, in the battle, something I'm begging God that it won't happen, but if you lose your life in the upcoming war? Doesn't that mean that all your life we took your happiness away from you? And once the war ends, how sure are you that you are alive for long? We are not the ones holding our lives. We are not the ones holding our times. Basically we have no idea how things will go after a second or two from now."

Saphira has nothing more to say, Gideon was right about time, they never know what will happen next.

"I have lived my more than twenty years enjoying myself so why do you think I can't do this much? I love the people as much as you love the-"

"I don't love them."

"There you go again with your attitude of acting you don't care but actually cares. Just be honest will you, I mean you kept threatening that you would stop but you kept going."

Saphira pursed her lips.

"And as much as I love the people, when you received their love in return- But I am not saying all of them will surely love me. Nothing in this world can be love my all-"

"Everyone loves water-"

"Are you really going to be sarcastic with me right now?" Gideon sighed when she interrupted him again.

Saphira pouted and looked to the side.

"Even water was not loved by everyone. It was simply a necessity, it is necessary to drink water in order to live that is why everyone was drinking it. Anyway, stop making me move away from the main topic. What I'm saying is, to be loved by your people and be able to do something for them in return is on itself an enjoyment and happiness only a few could experience."

"But you know... she may not..."

Gideon laughed, "Are you worrying about my love life now?"

Saphira pouted even more and even rolled her eyes.

Gideon shook his head with amusement in his eyes as he ruffled her hair.

"Stop messing with my hair."

"You already have your decision so why are you hesitating now? It wasn't only Hunter who was hesitating, you are doing it as well. I mean you talked to me not on his behalf but for yourself as well. That is why I am saying that you really love your people, a good empress I might say."

Saphira looked back at him with a frown.

"Saphira, a love can be found when one is lost but there is no way a life could be found when one is lost. Do you understand what I am saying?"

She slowly nodded her head.

"I can lose her, yes surely that would hurt but I can still find someone else if given time. Just like you given time you will be able to enjoy your lives. Plus I already told you I was somehow anticipating this."

"What do you mean?"

"The reason I was holding back was in order to know what your decisions are then I can lay out right in front of her what she gets into if she were to accept me. If she rejects then I will wish her happiness. And I will also find my own happiness. If she agrees then that's just it."

Saphira was speechless at first, "You have seriously thought things out."

"Of course, I have, I love my own brother as much. I mean he took all the brunt of the biggest responsibilities out there, why can't I help him carry some even just for a bit?"

Saphira finally laughed in a relaxed manner.

"We are truly lucky to have you guys as our elder brother and sister."

She felt that Raynisha and Gideon were the same, they were willing to do everything for their younger siblings as long as they can.

Just that Raynisha was left with no other choice.

(End Of Flashback)

"So shall we talk?" Gideon asked Hunter.

"We will go and speak with the others," Reginald said in understanding while Felissa smiled at her children.

"I'll go and speak with my family, we may have problems regarding the heirs you know," Saphira even laughed as she said this.

Raynisha is dead and she was the only one left. Basically they will have to look for the extended family that will take up the position.

"That's right, we will have to talk about the pact sooner or later and how things will go from now on. No more burdens, let's all just fight for our lives," Reginald suddenly said shocking them but nevertheless they didn't reject the idea.

Because it is heavier to leave everything on a small number of people than for all of them to fight together.
