Chapter 33

And so, without wasting even a breath of time, Timothy was able to close the gap between him and his opponent while throwing his fist downward in a chopping type of motion, hitting the other youth's shoulder. Taking on such a sharp and fierce hit, caused the youth's body to slam into the ground causing his opponent to pass out immediately following it landing on her body.

Timothy did not care much about showcasing an overbearing and dominant strength, but it really made him feel weird that in all of the other fights, the youths tried to push their opponents off of the stage rather than ending it with their own strength. Therefore, Timothy had done just that which caused the audience who were not very motivated, to sit up straight in their seats.

Seeing where Jacob was standing, Timothy specifically headed his way before sitting down next to him on the wall. Jacob looked to be paying close attention to the rest of the fights and only saw Timothy the moment he sat down. "That attack was not bad at all, but I feel like you did that just so no one would see that your speed was what needed to be closely watched." he told Timothy, showing disregard to the other matches he was watching.

"So you are able to give compliments to others! At your reaction earlier, I felt that you were a little too serious. Us friends should not be so serious while having a conversation with one another, wouldn't you agree?" Timothy replied with a smile on his face, obviously taunting Jacob but in a playful manner.

"So this is only the second time we are talking to each other, and you already consider me a friend?" Jacob responded with a confused look on his face. "There are others in the village I grew up playing with since I was two years old, and even now I still do not consider them my friends."

"Oh come on Jacob, I am sure that you can also see our future together, you and I side by side as two friends taking on the world together!" Timothy said teasingly to see how Jacob would react, and as expected, it looked as if he was becoming very annoyed by him.

"Well, enough games, I have decided to make you my second in command if you are willing. Your yearly salary in the beginning will only be one hundred gold pieces, but as time goes on, it will surely increase to a nice sum, and you do not even need to break your ties with your clan like others may ask with such a position and opportunity." Timothy's expression turned from playful to serious as he watched Jacob more closely.

It took several breaths of time before Jacob realized what Timothy had just said to him. Taking his hands off his head from being annoyed, Jacob instead locked eyes with Timothy. Looking at his new friend, Timothy felt a little pity since it looked like Jacob truly cared about his clan and felt useless when it came to helping his loved ones.

"You would offer me such an opportunity?" Jacob asked Timothy as if he was his savior. His clan's yearly income was only around eight hundred gold pieces, so just him donating what Timothy would give him, would greatly assist his clan and might even allow them to grow their foundation with such an unexpected lump sum.

"I can currently give you one hundred gold pieces as well as a bonus of fifty more gold pieces if you agree now. However, my promise to you, is that within two years, I can more than double your payment at the very least, but I would rather invest in your clan and just be your friend. Trust is a dance that two must do, but one only built on gold is surely insincere." Timothy told Jacob as he secretly handed over a contract stating everything exactly as he just told him.

"After the tournament, I would rather become brothers if that is possible instead of a simple employee and a friend." Jacob holding onto the contract had several tears running down his face as he locked eyes with Timothy once more. What Timothy did not know about Jacob, was his father became very ill recently and it looked as if he would be potentially unable to assist the rest of his clan with farming duties.

His clan would not just kick his family out, but it looked like debts would end up piling up due to this since his father played a rather big role in the clan's activities. However, if he were to donate the one hundred and fifty gold pieces to his clan, it might even be enough for the clan to work diligently to find a way to help his father's sickness.

Up until now, Jacob felt that the only way out of his situation would be to work tirelessly for a different clan in order to help save his father, but now a ray of hope finally existed where he would not need to change anything about his current life, but it would become much better since such a lump sum would cause his clan to pay more attention to him.

"Sure, we can wait until after the tournament, but as a gesture of our friendship and our newly found bond, please take this storage ring. Within is both the one hundred and fifty gold pieces as well as some equipment that you could do what you wish with." Timothy replied to Jacob in a very sincere way. Although he already had little Joshua as a brother, he felt a similar bond to Jacob and their situations being very similar. He thought to himself that if he was unable to receive the blessing the heavens gave to him, he would be almost exactly like Jacob which clenched his heart.
