However, it did not change the fact that the majority of these breeds were completely cornered since long ago by many different powers. Therefore, if he wanted a demon beast as his mount which he did not want to personally defeat in combat, Timothy would have no choice but to purchase such a mount with a private seller who would not negotiate anything less than a small fortune.
Running on the road towards Mist City gave Timothy a sense of freedom which he had not felt in his life. Not only was he the strongest he had ever been, but he was not able to not rely on anything but himself. Soon he would be turning eleven years old, but right now he felt like a fully grown adult who did not answer to anyone.
As Timothy continued towards Mist City, he could not help but to notice that the sun was slowly being blocked. From what he had read, Mist City's very first governor was able to lay down a mist-like barrier which allowed the city to avoid being taken down by outside forces for countless generations. The barrier of mist would only appear slowly as one got closer and closer to the city, but it was only around the city, so such a scene would not be something he would have to get used to for too long.
After several more minutes had passed, Timothy finally found his destination as a small group of people were standing grouped up together as two experts were asking someone else questions. This was the entrance to Mist City, a door like portal that connected it to the barrier. It would have two guards handpicked by the governor herself every five years.
Unlike ordinary guards that were hired by the city's taxes, these two guards were at the very minimum at least of the Advanced stage of cultivation and in more cases than not, would even have elemental affinities that worked very well together. Not only this, but what Timothy could conduct just from looking at them, were that they were dressed in fairly expensive armor compared to an ordinary Advanced stage cultivator.
The two guards had very blank expressions on their faces to prove that they were very neutral to those around them as they continued to ask each individual questions before taking a small payment of gold pieces and allowing them through. This was also a big reason why Timothy wanted to spend so much money only for an official business certification for Bark Kingdom. As long as he or executive ranked individuals within his business had a badge, they did not have to pay such a toll. Similar to how the Patriarch of the now destroyed Flamed Roots clan did not have to.
As he approached the two guards now that it was his turn in line, Timothy felt a slight pressure sizing him up. This was almost always the case concerning those without badges. If an enemy of the city were to try to get in, such as a disguised demon beast, as long as the guards were the same cultivation stage or higher, just by doing a simple scan, they could determine who was human and who was not.
Although, even human kingdoms would be at war with other human kingdoms depending on the circumstances, demon beasts were considered to be the biggest threat to cities such as Mist City. This was because a group of level two demon beasts could easily kill an Advanced stage human cultivator. Demon beasts did not have cultivation stages, only levels to determine their overall strength.
There were exceptions such as the type of lineage of said demon beast, but it would take an Intermediate stage human cultivator to dispose of one level one demon beast and would find it difficult to face a level two demon beast alone if both were just ordinary or low leveled. Luckily, demon beasts would normally have a low level of intelligence and would rarely live together with others unless they were of the same lineage.
If it were not for this, humans in this world would have been slaughtered to extinction many years ago. However, as time went on, more and more demon beasts would be born who had higher intelligence. Because of this, those that did similar to the one who attacked Boulder Village, would have quite a few ordinary demon beasts under their control. Still, the ancient and primordial demon beasts who have lived for tens of thousands of years just like the immortal human experts, existed and were constantly fighting.
Finally walking into the door, Timothy was teleported to Mist City and could not help but to gasp in awe as he looked around. Unlike Hollow City, it was not just large, but the amount of wealth which was generated here was indeed enormous as there were no street vendors and only massive buildings surrounding him.
There were even more individuals who constantly went in and out of the buildings. Though Timothy's soul was very strong for his age, he could not help but to be moved as his master continued to snap him back to reality. "Now, this city looks to be a little more together. This proves that even now, the governor focused less on her personal wealth, and instead continued to make sure the city as a whole was prosperous. Still, compared to many other places, this city seems somewhat poor."
"In the future, I am almost certain that if you choose to, you could even buy the entirety of Mist City and make it the headquarters of your merchant business. I must warn you, it would be more cost effective to figure out a place outside of a kingdom controlled by those who rule this world, and to build your headquarters there." Master Sei told Timothy as Timothy began simply sightseeing and enjoying himself.
