Chapter 55

One of the cultivators who wanted the pill, was none other than the Ash clan's young master who was the individual who exchanged notes with George earlier in order to set up a handful of matches for when the auction came to a close. The bids came in very quickly as the original price was indeed low but a fair place to start as it skyrocketed to twelve thousand gold pieces in the span of only three minutes!

Since no one at their table needed the pill, Timothy and the rest just looked on as the battling for it became fiercer and fiercer as time went on. It was actually rather enjoyable because George's most prominent rival who was sitting not too far from them, began to visibly sweat as his shouts became more and more louder due to not a single person even on the ground floor giving him enough face to stop.

"If you want that pill so much, why not just double the price? I am sure that someone like yourself would have the means to pay such a price for a once in a lifetime opportunity!" George shouted towards him before laughing non stop along with everyone else who did not like the Ash clan's young master.

Due to the Ash clan being the third most powerful clan within Mist City, their young master chose to use his background to get his way wherever he chose to go. By doing so, he would create many enemies along the way who would secretly wish to see something bad happen to him. Such figures who had to ignore him at the time, figured out that this would be a good way to pay him back.

"Damn you, George!" he shouted back before several of his underlings surrounded him to block their young master from launching an attack by himself towards their table. "Young master Lewis, please think about the consequences and remain seated!" The underling who seemed to have a special position due to his appearance, told him which was the point of Lewis finally listening and sitting back down.

The reason Lewis listened to that particular underling of his was because he was handpicked by his father, the Patriarch of the Ash clan to protect him and limit anything bad to happen within and outside of Mist City. This was similar to George's father making his two underlings follow George around. However, unlike George, Lewis did not give this underling a proper title.

"I bid ten thousand gold pieces!" Lewis shouted towards the stage as loud as he could. However, because he had been yelling so much earlier, a little squeak came out as well which caused some of the experts on the ground level to let out a chuckle. It was as if Lewis was continuing to lose some face as he saw one or two of the others who teamed up with him to try to bring George down chuckle as well.

"Sold for ten thousand gold pieces!" the presenter told the audience since no one else chose to make a higher bid. To have the person make a grade three pill like this one, would cost roughly eight thousand gold pieces. So they were willing to try their luck negotiating for the pill with the same alchemist who gave this one to the Maroon Auction House to sell which would cost less than ten thousand gold pieces even if they had to include the ingredients cost.

Even though he felt slightly cheated, Lewis still felt as if he had finally won something today and was willing to even go as far as thinking that this would be the positive turn in events he would need to come out on top of his and George's rivalry since it would now be time for the fights to begin. He brought along roughly eight different experts all with different cultivation stages and levels in order to compete.

However, since there were experts present who were already scheduled to fight against one another, he and George would have to wait until those experts were finished before they were able to compete through their own entries. This did not bother George or the others, because they were also here to enjoy the show and possibly even make several bets.

Only a handful of those on the ground level and the VIP area chose to take their leave, while more than ninety five percent of those still present wanted to stay and enjoy the show. The reason was, because it would be likely that even some matches between Advanced stage experts were possible which would be enough for them to potentially find some answers to their own bottlenecks whether in techniques or cultivation. This was why one of the biggest forms of entertainment in Mist City were in fact spars and fights to the death between experts.

The first fight was between two Intermediate stage experts who were very close in cultivation level. It was one very muscular man who was balding against a small but confident looking female cultivator with long blonde hair. It was clear that the man was a Body Refinement cultivator while the female was an Energy Refinement cultivator. Depending on how powerful an Energy Refinement cultivator was and how pure the natural energy in their body was, would determine if they could defeat a Body Refinement cultivator in combat.

In more cases, a Body Refinement cultivator would be able to defeat an Energy Refinement cultivator. However, the Energy Refinement cultivator would have an edge depending on those factors, including how powerful their techniques were which is why this match looked to be a rather even one. The female cultivator drew her dagger as the balding man drew his ax.

Before her opponent could move, the female cultivator began by channeling her energy into the dagger, causing it to turn into a strange but sharp water whip! The balding man was still rather confident with the look on his face, and began to charge at her while channeling the Qi in his body to not only block her soon to be attacked while also leaving enough left over to try to hit her with his own and end the fight right away.
