Chapter 67

Another thirty minutes had passed by, and Timothy began feeling some pressure until Jacob noticed something in the distance. "Hey, we finally arrived at the mountain range!" Jacob could not help but to lightly shout in excitement. "What else does your map say, if it has any knowledge of already dug out areas around the mountain range, we will not have to worry about doing it ourselves!"

A moment later, Timothy finally saw the mountain range as well, but nervousness began to fill his mind. "That would be nice, but according to the map, there should have still been talismans a short distance away from the mountain range. I do not know why we did not come across even one, but I have a bad feeling about this." Timothy replied as he withdrew his best sword to put on his back.

"Oh please, it was probably just a small and easy to kill level one demon beast who might have thought it was a good choice to eat for dinner. You said it yourself, the talismans had no barrier around them to protect, so who do you think is right, me or you who is worrying over what could be nothing?" Jacob asked Timothy while snickering to himself in a teasing manner.

"You have to stop worrying so much," as he began to say something else to Timothy, something from under the ground beneath Jacob pounced up in a sneak attack causing him to pause his speech and react accordingly. Timothy drew his sword and began to circulate the energy in his body as Jacob could only block whatever it was attacking him with his body.

Preventing any severe damage to his body, Jacob was able to circulate enough energy in his arms to grab what was attacking him. It was a very long and slimy creature similar to a worm with no face. Initially, it looked like it tried to knock Jacob over, but now it was quickly wrapping itself around his body!

"Damn it, Timothy, watch out!" Jacob shouted as he continued to struggle. From his shout, Timothy concentrated on the area around him and felt the ground slightly shaking as a large looking rhinoceros type demon beast was charging towards him with a very large horn on its head at the very front of it.

Such a scene made Timothy feel weird, because it had only been about five hours since they had entered into the Monster's Wasteland, so why were they in such a situation when it looked like there was no demon beast in eyesight?

With Jacob tied up in a literal sense against his own opponent and a powerful looking demon beast rushing over to attack Timothy, things were looking rather bad for the two.

"Jacob, just hang in there, I promise that I will assist you in just a moment!" Timothy shouted out to at least give Jacob some type of acknowledgement of the current situation.

"Oh yeah, just take your time over there. What's the worst that can happen with receiving such a big hug by this massive slimy thing!" Jacob shouted back. At the moment all he could do was buy as much time as he could until Timothy could help him out.

Without wasting anymore time, Timothy began by circulating all of the energy that he could through his body. Due to being a dual cultivator, as long as he had enough experience and ability, he could control both his energy and the Qi in his body.

He knew about this since the moment he began cultivating, but this would be the very first time that he would be implementing this to a practical use. Normally, a dual cultivator would either use their energy or Qi while having the other as a trump card.

But Timothy had no choice but to go all out since it looked like Jacob was indeed not in the best shape. As he continued to concentrate, he first circulated his Qi into his right hand, while he began channeling his energy into his left hand.

Unfortunately, it was unwise for him to try to channel both in a single hand, so he had to compromise. Luckily for him, the demon beast continued advancing towards him. Though it would have been good enough if the demon beast fled, if it just halted until a better opportunity were to arise it would have made the situation much worse.

Without hesitating, Timothy actually began advancing towards the demon beast that was charging towards him. Jacob watching this felt that it was weird for Timothy to take the initiative, but it was not as if he could complain because it took all of his strength just to make sure that the demon beast he was dealing was unable to kill him.

And so Timothy held both hands on his sword as he circulated both his energy and Qi into it as he was now only a few steps away from the demon beast. Suddenly, Timothy bent his knees slightly before disappearing and reappearing behind his opponent. His sword was now above his head when it was originally at his side. The demon beast let out a small moan before hitting the ground.

Jacob was unable to see it due to being so preoccupied, but Timothy used his movement technique to land on the side of the demon beast while he swung his sword to cut the area of its body which was clearly its weak point. Due to its skin being incredibly thick, Timothy's sword was now showing many cracks on it as he put it back in his storage ring and he put the demon beast away in another one.

"I guess that I am still not strong enough to cut a level one demon beast that specializes in defense without the need to hit its weak spot." Timothy thought to himself as he did not waste any more time and started to make his way towards Jacob. Just in case there were other demon beasts hiding, Timothy did not drop his guard while advancing over so that he would not fall victim to a weak but capable demon beast just as Jacob had.
