Chapter 91

In order to keep the tournament as fair as possible, contestants were unable to watch each other's matches. However, what Timothy did not know was that he was one of only three new faces in the tournament while the others were all veterans who had at least two tournaments under their belts. Sometimes, tournaments would be restricted depending on what the prizes were. If Timothy were to win this tournament, it was possible that he would be unable to enter a low tier tournament for those under the Intermediate stage.

And so, after waiting only a single hour, Timothy was called out for his second match. It was actually rather hilarious to him that the bets placed on him were increasing as time went on according to his artifact. Not just that, but his artifact claimed that the total bets for him to win the tournament was roughly eight thousand gold pieces. He was unsure what the average bet was, but seeing such a sum made him glad because it was not like only one person would be willing to bet such a large amount.

Timothy noticed that this match would be much harder for him to come out on top of, because his opponent was an Elementary level eight Energy Refinement expert. This did not scare him too much, because Timothy at least could take many hits just from his physique that continuously would improve over time since he was a dual cultivator. He just needed to make sure his opponent went down before he did.

The match began with Timothy using his kicking technique in order to try to land a blow on his opponent's left side. However, his opponent had plans of her own as she actually chose to receive the hit head on. Timothy thought that it was strange that she chose not to block or dodge, until he noticed that he was unable to move his foot after it hit the female!

Suddenly, the female cultivator's body became full of water as she whipped her arm at Timothy in response to his attack which pushed him back several steps. She did not stop there, without giving Timothy any time to react, the female cultivator shot out a large water ball that traveled in the air towards Timothy.

Between being hit by his opponent's first and second attacks, Timothy felt his head getting a little dizzy as he remained standing up, but his back was now arched forward. The audience seeing the exchange went wild. This female cultivator reminded him of the other cultivators he had faced up until this point and an idea popped into his head.

Originally, Timothy just wanted to use his battle Qi in order to get through the earlier rounds of the tournament, but he now felt that he could no longer hold back as his earth armor appeared, covering his body as he dashed forward towards his opponent with his right fist still forming stones around it.

Seeing that Timothy was still going to try hitting her head on, a smirk appeared on the female cultivator's face as the ground around the stage the two were fighting on, started to become very wet. There was not enough water to cause Timothy to trip or fall, but it did slow him down long enough for the female cultivator to send several more water balls into his direction.

Timothy was upset, but he knew that he himself was to blame because his opponent clearly knew how to implement her water elemental affinity to a high degree of efficiency while in a one on one setting. Every element may have their specialties, but it did not mean that it was easy to see through them.

Every time Timothy found a way to close the distance between him and his opponent, she continued using the same tactics, it was even to the point where the entire stage was now filled with enough water to cause Timothy to have no choice but to halt his movements. He tried to figure out how he would get out of this with another win, but nothing he could think about would end well.

The ground was now in complete control of his opponent among other things. It also was clear that her overall energy output was very minimal because she approached this battle in the fashion in which she did. Timothy was acting like a test dummy and he was constantly exerting far too much energy and battling Qi in an attempt to keep up. Things were not looking good, and even those who wanted Timothy to win located in the audience slowly began to quiet down one by one.

Even if he wanted to, Timothy knew that he was unable to get close enough to his opponent to use an attack with his aura. Time continued to slow down as minute by minute continued to pass. Timothy was unsure when he would find an opening, but it looked like it was completely impossible.

Timothy began to lose consciousness as he started to remember different moments in his training. He thought back to how he was too poor to even get his hands on a very basic training manual. He thought about how he was able to achieve some early success thanks to his Master Sei and was even gifted with an ability among a small handful of high tier techniques.

That was what he was hoping for, the movement technique that his master passed down to him! Master Sei mentioned to him that the second chapter of the movement technique consisted of the user being able to for a short time, jump up quickly, while using the foot in the back of the other to hit the user forward in a down slope. By doing so, the user would be able to quickly close the distance between themselves and their target!
