Two Youths

The youths then noticed the owner, as they exchanged their greetings, before they entered the apartment.

The youths then glanced around the room for a while, while one of them complimented.

"Landlady, your house is quite beautiful"

A girl stepped out into Si Chen's sight. Her face was immaculately white, her features beautiful and delicate, able to suppress the landlady's looks by more than a level.

She spoke in a noble tone, with elegance and a sense of innate superiority within her.

It was evident that she was not from a normal background.

She was still eyeing the apartment, her eyes sparkling brightly, when she finally caught a feeling as though she was being gazed at.

She raised her head up, and saw a youth glaring at her.

She froze for a moment, her mouth slightly open, not knowing what to do. She had thought that there was no one else in the apartment.

Which hole did this youth pop out from?

And as the shock died down, she immediately screamed out in a high-pitched voice for no apparent reason.

Probably because of the surprise?

"What happened?" The other youth who was standing at the back cried out in worry, as he hurriedly rushed towards the girl.

That was when Si Chen saw his face. Defined and attractive. And had a few similarities with the girl.

"What are you doing there? You scared me to death just now!" The girl yelled out loud, disregarding the youth's question as she pointed her fingers towards Si Chen.

"Tsk. Is it my problem that you have no eyes to see?" Si Chen coldly snorted. His heart was still raging in anger, as his temper burst out abruptly.

"How dare you talk to her like that? You better apologize to her right now!" The youth shouted with a hint of threat in his voice.

Si Chen ignored his ramblings, as he turned towards the landlady, "Landlady, could you please explain to us what you were trying to do?"

The landlady stood there with an awkward smile on her face. Today's events had gone far beyond her control. She wanted to first persuade Si Chen to let the two youths stay, then when the two youths came, she would separately convince them.

Thus, they could form a happy, mutual co-living cooperation.

However, the current scene right now was far from her expectations. Who knew that the two youths would come so early and mess up her plans?

After being in a daze for a few moments, while her mind constantly whirled to think of ideas, she saw the teacups and the container of tea on the table.

A lightbulb went up in her head, as she regained her calm demeanor and smilingly said, "Let's not blow up our temper right now. This will not help us to solve the current situation. How about we first drink a cup of tea to soothe our nerves?"

With that said, she poured a cup of tea for both parties, while using her hands to gesture them to drink.

Si Chen casually sat took the cup and slowly began to sip it, his actions one of elegance.

While the two youths, not showing any weakness in demeanor, also did the same, as they maintained a noble posture while sipping their tea.

If anyone else were to see this scene, they would think that this was group of rich second generation young masters peacefully drinking tea together, as if they were the best of friends, and couldn't be any closer.

But if the intensifying glance between both of their eyes betrayed this so called peaceful scene, as Si Chen peered directly into the youth's eyes, while he similarly returned his stare, while still sipping his tea.

Meanwhile, the girl at the side, simply widened her eyes and glared at Si Chen with a menacing glint in her eyes, as though the bigger her eyes were, the more threatening she would be.

Si Chen naturally disregarded her stare down.

The atmosphere was becoming more and more stifling and oppressive, as both sides were locked in an intense game of stare down.

The landlady slowly coughed a few times to dispel of this very uncomfortable silence, as she started to speak, "Your name is Si Chen, am I right? Si Chen, the apartment that you rented is a 5 room apartment. With only two people living in it, I feel that this is quite a waste of space, don't you think? Thus, in order for us not to waste this additional space, I propose that we all come to an agreement."

"How about we just stay in one single apartment together. Not only will this not disturb our daily lives, we can also save space, and cut down on the rent? How about we put our differences aside, and stop possessing hostility with each other. What do you think about this?" The landlady watched the reactions of both sides intently, an unusual glint flashing in her eyes.

"No!" Si Chen shouted, along with the youth and the girl in unison.

However, this simultaneous reaction didn't seem to pull them closer, as the hostility within their eyes deepened.

Si Chen was thoroughly furious, because this apartment was supposed to be an living space solely for both him and Xiao Meng.

So what if he wasted the space in the house? He had money to earn anyways, and it was all for the sake of her little sister.

Although this was only a temporary housing, but he still wanted it to be the best for Xiao Meng. With 3 extra rooms, she could play around and store whatever she wanted to do. They can never be too much extra space, after all.

How could he just give up the rooms to co-share in the first place?

Not to mention, his anger was now clouding over, not allowing him to shrink back from this situation.

There was no way he was going to back down.

"Landlady, since I was the one who came here first, I should be entitled to the entire apartment, and can choose whether or not to let them in. And I say no!" Si Chen declared in a resolute tone.

"But you see…we haven't signed the agreement yet." The landlady hesitatingly said, but her eyes shone with a crafty glint.

This landlady…

Si Chen gritted his teeth. It was true. He didn't sign the agreement yet. The landlady could give it to whoever she wants, since she was the owner.

And there was only one reason why she was telling him this right now.

She was divulging her true intentions.

To raise the price of the rent.

The landlady clearly saw the love he had for his sister, and judging from the way how much his sister liked and enjoyed the place, there was no way he would cut any slack on this matter and give up the apartment.

This was why she had emphasized the point about the agreement. She threw the ball toward him, and wanted him to voluntarily raise the price of the rent, so that he could secure the rent of the apartment.

After all, she had already noticed that the relationship between both the youths and Si Chen was basically irreparable, simply because of that meagre conflict at the beginning, so the idea of co-habitation was clearly out.

Thus, she decided to switch to a different plan. To let them fight amongst themselves for the place, while their anger was clouding their logical thinking.
