Interview (1)

And that young woman, was someone he knew of.

Small and sharp nose, crescent shaped eyebrows, and her crafty yet passionate eyes. She was exuding out a strong womanly aura, coupled with her formal attire which further accentuated this.

His apartment's landlady, Meng Yao.

To be honest, Si Chen was really surprised when he saw her name on the list of candidates which Yang Deng had sent a copy of to him.

After all, he didn't expect for things to be so coincidental.

He leaned back onto his seat into a listening position, with his eyes casually studying and examining the interview scene.

The youth on the far left was the first to speak.

"I am Gui Bing, age 27. I had graduated from Bei Qing University with a Business Degree. Before coming here, I had more than 5 years of experience working as a finance manager in the Feng Yun Bank, and I am confident of being able to suit your needs and better your company." Gui Bing took a pause for dramatic effect, then continued.

"I have a few trade secrets which I had learned during my experience in the Feng Yun Bank, and if put into good use, the profits of the Hui Yuan Drink Store may potentially rise upwards of 10%. That is…of course, if you hire me."

At this point of time, Gui Bing's introduction has deviated from one that was confident, to that of utter arrogance and haughtiness.

His tone was as though he being hired was doing a great favor for the Hui Yuan Drink Store, and not the other way around instead.

Yang Deng, naturally, could sense the strangeness of his tone, and his eyebrows slightly furrowed in disapproval.

However, he still maintain a cordial tone when speaking, as he asked the next person to introduce himself.

A few minutes passed, and it was Meng Yao's turn.

With a calm expression plastered on her face, she spoke for quite a while about her goals and dreams, and what she aspired to do if she was hired for the job.

Her words were as smooth flowing as a waterfall that continuously went on and on. Never did she once stutter, and you can instantly see the difference in her image she portrayed as compared to the other candidates.

Si Chen had to admit that she really had her way with words, like a sly old fox with years of experience in the business world.

Yang Deng had also noticed this difference, and he was nodding his head in approval as he looked at her with sparks glittering in his eyes, while wondering if he would be praised if he was able to find a capable person that suited Si Chen's needs.

Meng Yao kept her stable composure throughout, and when she was done, a tranquil silence reigned on for a few seconds.

Gui Bing's conceited expression was slightly affected by Meng Yao's unordinary performance, but he still had his pride and arrogance ingrained within him as he looked at Yang Deng.

"Candidates 1 and 2, could you please take your leave now? We will contact you at a later date and inform you of the results." Yang Deng first looked towards Gui Bing and the other youth, while slowly informing.

Then, he turned towards Meng Yao, and a slight smile appeared on his face, "Candidate 3, could you stay within the store for a moment? I will get back to you after this interview ends."

By now, the results were obvious. Gui Bing and the other youth had failed and would probably never have another shot at this, while Meng Yao had caught Yang Deng's interest and had a high chance of being hired if no other candidates in the later part was able to rival her performance.

The other youth simply walked away with a disappointed look on his face, but on the other hand, Gui Bing's eyes widened in disbelief, and rather than walking away, he went forward and rudely questioned, "Are you sure you want to send me away, and not hire me? Do you know of the consequences if you miss the chance to hire me? I have trade secrets that could raise your profits by a huge percentage!"

Hearing this, Yang Deng eyed Gui Bing from head to toe, and his eyes shimmered with unconcealed distaste.

Even if he was truly capable, with such an unlikable character, he was sure that Si Chen would not even want to talk to him, not to mention to hire him.

"If there is nothing else, you can make you way out. I will not send you off." Yang Deng straightforwardly instructed with a cold look on his face.

After the Hui Yuan Drink Store had risen in status and popularity, Yang Deng had also acknowledged the fact that he had to change along with the times.

As the lower boss of the store, someone in charge of managing the place, sending orders to the waiters, and receive instructions from the Big Boss Si Chen who stays hidden behind the background, he had to improve and enhance himself to deal with the increase in the shop scale.

There were quite a few bosses and CEO"s that came to talk deals with him, and after he had rejected the bulk of it, he had more or less learned how to display his image and cultivate a strong aura so as to command and gain the respect of others.

If not, how could a weak looking person with curled up shoulders be able to convey his thoughts in a way that would make others take his words seriously?

Exuding out an imposing presence, Yang Deng stared down at Gui Bing and threw him a sharp glance.

Gui Bing, who had still wanted to retort, felt cold sweat breaking out on his forehead when he was exposed to Yang Deng's gaze that seemed to make him feel a deep sense of unease.

He swallowed the words back to his stomach, and silently walked out of the store with an reluctant expression and a bitter look.

On the other hand, Meng Yao's lips rose up to reveal a slight polite smile as she responded in a tone that was not lacking any weakness, "I understand. I will wait for the interview to end."

She looked far too tranquil for someone who was notified of her successful interview, and only after catching that shimmer of joy that flashed in her eyes that Si Chen put his thoughts away.

The next few interviews came along, and Si Chen paid half his attention onto it, with other half on his phone.

Even with his deviation of attention, he still managed to analyse and judge at a rapid pace. However, he found that there were no other people who could challenge Meng Yao's professionalism and eloquent speech.

Just by how she well she talked alone, she could quality for the job, because what Si Chen wanted, was for an assistant to help him to negotiate deals on his behalf.

After all, he was sure that he would be exposed to countless business deals in the future, be it small or huge, and he could not spend his time to discuss every single one of them.

For the smaller and less important ones, he would delegate them for his assistants to handle instead.
