My Way.

Day 25.

This was the day when the team first got to catch a glimpse of the target, Fedir Kozel. He was the perfect image of a soldier that was responsible for all the men that he led. Sharp eyes, well-toned body, a uniform that was decorated with medals, and a holster on his pants. The only problem that Alex could find in him was his slight limp, which was a bit out of character from the overall Charisma that he exuded. He had arrived at the base just now, which made Alex curse the government for not being able to provide him with accurate information. The soldiers had been pretty tight-lipped about him in general, so he couldn't actively ask his team to ask around for information on him, and he couldn't enter his personal cabin due to the guards that were stationed there 24/7. Fedir had fought and worked for his entire life, and him being a major reason for the strength of the current military was the main factor in him getting this much support from the inside.

Alex had already guessed why all of a sudden this man wanted power. His arrogant attitude towards the guards that were supposed to guard him told a lot about his current self. People didn't talk much about him, so deduction was still the only way to go, but he was definitely convinced that this was a man who wanted to be recognized as a leader, not only of his men but also of his country.

Because Mark was a recruit, he had been asked to meet the leader for the first time. Also, he had asked for details on every person from the new staff, which had been

added to the base as of late.

Alex also tagged along, because he was curious to see what kind of checking was this man going to do. At first, when they reached there, the man looked at them with cold, dead eyes. All of the people including our main four were from the Kramer family, and they had been sent bit by bit to make sure that the workers that were supposed to be sent afterwards to the base would be able to settle down easily because there were enough personnel to cater to their needs. This personnel were the assassins from the Kramer Family.

Fedir signalled towards one of his men, who stepped out of the group. He then proceeded to punch him in the gut, to see if it garnered any response from the rest of the group. He didn't trust the government one bit, so he had to make sure that these were not mercenaries that were hired to kill him.

Being trained Assassins, they made sure to not even flinch. They stood there making a fearful expression instead of an angry one. Alex made the most convincing one, with tears in his eyes.

Fedir looked at them, still unconvinced. He knew that some mercenaries didn't care about

emotions, an ad was pretty good at hiding cues. So he decided to do something even crueller. He pointed towards Alex and brought him to a chamber that was hidden inside of his room. Alice and Zira started shouting and crying, just like women would do, whereas Mark had his entire body trembling, to add some finishing touches to the performance. Everyone else had a slight expression of relief, followed by extreme discomfort, which was meant to show that they were relieved that they weren't picked, at the same time they were ashamed that a kid had to take hits due to them.

All of the soldiers frowned. They did not expect this, but they knew that the leader wouldn't hurt a child just to prove a point. They were all a bit attached to the kid, so they would hate to see something happen to him.

Inside the room, Alex was currently seated on a bed, crying. Fedir looked at the kid, and said,

"Listen, kid. I am not going to do anything to you. You just have to act as if you are getting hit, and I will give you some candy if you do it good enough."

Alex showed that he was a kid and nodded on the outside with tears on his face, but from the inside, he was giggling. This guy was too naive. They would never fall for something as foolish as this.

Fedir nodded in approval, and they both began the act. He had already informed his close friend in the base, Andriy about his plan, so he decided that this would test the people inside and make them completely fearful of him if they were not Mercenaries, and if that kid was a part of their mercenary group, they would not take this very lightly, and make a mistake. Then he could ask the kid to tell them what actually happened, and that would lead to the completion of the test.

Alex on the other hand was overjoyed. Unknowingly to them, he had already thought of a way to destroy the rebellion from the inside, and the opportunity had been provided by none other than Fedir himself.

The soldiers outside became a bit furious but seeing that their leader Andriy was calm, the decision to wait and watch. One of the female assassins from the family fainted, due to fear that is. This was all an act, and they had to be as convincing as possible.

After a while, when they both came out, The sisters jumped at Alex and looked to see if there was any wound on his body. They couldn't find any, but still, they glared towards Fedir. Fedir smiled awkwardly at their faces and asked Alex to explain everything. Alex explained the entire situation as it played out, and everyone calmed down. They looked at their leader with an expression of 'I knew he wasn't like that.'

Little did they know that they would be the reason for his untimely demise. The plan that Alex had guaranteed a way that could minimize the casualties and maximize the mission directive.

'They wanted me to cull a rebellion, and I will do so in my own way.'
