An Eye For An Eye

In the luxurious Villa of the Lee family, Alexa sat in front of a mirror and combed her hair slowly.

She was getting ready for a dinner party that her father, CEO Francis Lee, had set up. She brushed her long, wavy black hair and made it fall freely at her back.

Her movements were stuff and unorganised; she didn't want to be in this party but had no choice, just like she won't have any choice regarding her future husband.

"Are you done yet?" A knock was heard and she turned to find her father impatiently checking his watch.

"Almost." Her voice was so low that one would think only her lips were moving.

"Hasten up a bit; you should be the first thing the investors see when they arrive here."

"I know father," she didn't bother to hasten up and still continued her slow, rusty movements. It was obvious she was trying to delay her appearance; good thing the party was not starting soon.

Alexa heaved a sigh after her father went away.

"Just go out there and sit like a doll, no talking." She reminded herself inwardly. It was tiring to be a rich man's daughter. Even more tiring was the fact that whenever those old perverts wanted to close a deal with her father, they'd request for her presence; just to have the satisfaction of ogling her body.

And her father? He would gladly put her on a stage, naked, as long as it raked in his millions.

She heaved another sigh, it wasn't as bad as she made it seem. She was part of her father's company and had every right to be present whenever a new partnership was considered.

....

After Mr Francis Lee left his daughter's room, he was told by one of the maids that he had a very important visitor.

Be hurried over to meet with the visitor. Tonight's dinner party wasn't just to close a new partnership deal, it was to start his plan for rebellion; an act he knew could land him in death...

He had to do this for his daughter. She might think the worst things of him, but all he ever did was for her.

That arranged marriage, those investors who always had eyes on her, the company shares; he was going to put a stop to it.

He would never let his child be forced into a marriage or be used as a bargaining chip but he had to put up the act to ensure that his future plans would fall into place.

"Hello, senator." He shook hands with the government official who had arrived earlier, "how have you been?"

"Busy." The old man answered with one word. He didn't seem interested in anything at all.

"What brings you here today?" Mr Lee wasn't expecting him at all; he was surprised to discover that he was the visitor whom he was told about.

"Can't I visit an old friend?"

"Of course you can, just as you said, you're busy with politics." Mr Lee remarked and brought him to a table and poured two glasses of wine.

"I'm here to check on you," the senator took a sip, "heard you will be partnering with Ramon constructions?"

"Yes. They offer pretty good terms." Mr Lee acknowledged, "Let's stroll out for a bit."

He didn't want to discuss anything with Senator Raphael here; for this top politician to appear here meant that all was not well.

They walked out of the main house and strolled along the swimming pool.

"How is Alexa?" The senator finally asked.

"She's good." Mr Lee scratched his head a bit. Why doesn't he go straight to the point?

"Have you signed the deal yet?" He asked again.

Mr Lee knew which deal he was referring to and nodded slowly, "I completed the paperwork two days ago."

"Then why haven't I received the documents?"

"It should be with the dealer. You know he is in charge of this venture." Mr Lee stared at his almost empty glass of wine.

"What about the supplies, when are you delivering them?" The senator asked without any hint of concern.

"I'm not sure, but my men should be ready in a week." He was tired of running in circles. This man definitely had something he wanted. Mr Lee felt cold shivers run down his spine.

"Just be careful. We need more men on deck. Last I heard, one slip caused the death of hundreds. You know the name behind it right?" The senator stopped and looked at Mr Lee for the first time since they started strolling.

"Who?" Mr Lee feigned ignorance.

"Detective Bryan Derrick!" Mr Lee could sense the hatred that came along with the name. Of course he knew that name; the more reason he had to hasten up his plan.

"He's here? In Haston city?"

The senator nodded slowly and watched as Mr Lee looked ahead in thought.

"Another thing," Senator Raphael added, "the Organisation feels that there is a need for you to understand the consequences of betrayal, we feel you're up to something."

Mr Lee smiled broadly. He was well aware that they would know of his planned rebellion, how else would they be considered all rounded? What they didn't know was that he had a trump card...

The senator didn't stay long after delivering his message. Mr Lee felt relieved and continued to stand outside in front of the swimming pool. He had a lot to deal with.

After a while, a security guard walked up to him and handed him an envelope, he said it was delivered by an unknown man.

Mr Lee's expression froze when he read the contents;

An eye for an eye....a son for a son...you will pay...

Was this a threat letter?
