A New Game: Part Six

The forest path was well traveled and well maintained. Light rays broke through the limbs lighting up the path in front of them. It was a quiet journey despite the wind that rattled the tops of the trees. All in all it was a nice walk , until the monsters started appearing.

The first monsters to show up were Red Wolves. Thankfully they were no pairs or triples like he had dealt with earlier. They were quickly taken care of by his new friend, which proved to be very efficient in the darkness of the forest. The wolf was doing so well in fact that he hadn't even needed to use a single spell.

Along with great speed and decent strength, it was able to take care of each Wolf by itself. Coupling it's stats with abilities like Ambush and Firebreath resulted in a deadly combination. He had noticed something while watching him fight, his overall personality was different from the wild wolves. He seemed more serious and less aggressive, and he was constantly looking around for danger like some kind of guard dog.

When they would take breaks he would try to pet him, but it always evaded his hand. It was more battle oriented than the Slimes, that was sure. Now that he thought back, even his slimes seemed different from the wild ones. Mabey their connection with him altered their personalities.

The same could be said for their abilities, as far as he noticed no other wolf had Ambush or Fire breath. The same could be said for the slimes, his connection definitely affected them in some way. He would have to ask edge, but since she hasn't arrived back she was probably managing the chip.

Stalking behind a fallen tree along the path the two crept over and beneath the tree to get a look at the path ahead. As he looked over he saw what looked like a small green child with skinny little limbs. It wore nothing but a belt with some cloth covering it's waist. The belt had an assortment of tools strapped to it with crewd looking leather.

The moment it turned around he knew what it was. It bore an ugly grin of yellow fangs that stuck out of it's mouth and pudgy yellow eyes. It was a goblin, but it looked unlike a common warrior. Above it's head a number 11 floated, his own wolf was now level 14. It was an undeniable win.

He looked at his wolf and pointed at some underbrush. His wolf, having already practiced this strategy before vanished without a trace as his Ambush ability activated. He got up and swung his staff around in the air, "Lets try this out." He jumped over the tree and landed with a thud startling the goblin.

The green creature scratched it's head and mumbled in an unrecognisable language. "Come on fugly, let's go," he said, raising his staff. The goblin upon seeing the staff yelled out and ran towards him with his hammer raised up. "Ok, lets see what this does," he twirled his staff in the air and slammed it down on the ground.

The Goblin stopped running and looked at him confused. A stream of fire short from the top of the staff with great force. He braced himself for the recoil of the spell, like the description had said. The flames struck the golin and he was sent flying into the base of a tree. The flames over took it in an instant and not even a cry came from it.

The spell ended and he was left a little out of breath as he looked at the result. The goblin was no more, it had already shined and disappeared leaving a hammer on the singed ground. He smiled and a small laugh escaped his lips, "That was cool." He twirled his staff and placed it on his shoulder and retrieved the item.

His wolf pranced up and sat down, looking at him with drooped ears. Alex couldn't tell if it was relieved or disappointed by the effectiveness of the spell. It should know it's effects, the spell came from him. Fire Burst, a spell he acquired after leveling up the Red Wolf. It was a variant of the Wolfs Fire Breath skill.

As he read the description on the Hammer a text bubble appeared.

'Companion Available! Goblin Craftsmen'

He raised an eye, his guess was right. He moved over to the summons and read the new description. The sprite was banging away on an anvil, true to it's name.

Goblin Craftsmen -11-

A curious and rare find, these Goblin Craftsmen are a curious bunch. While in possession of a higher intelligence and perception than others of its kind it has no battle capabilities other than simple defence. It's true abilities lie outside the battlefield as simple tinkers and blacksmiths.

Able to create simple items given enough instruction, training, and time. Many of these goblins are ousted by their stronger brothers and live alone tinkering with an assortment of self made tools. They are docile creatures and some even find work in human villages as assistants.

Talents- Tinker, Learner, Simple Item Making,

Special Skill - Duplicate

He looked at the new information, but his curiosity was stuck on the new description; Special Skill. Does that mean some Summons have Skills only they know. Something told him this Duplicate skill was indeed special. He decided to swallow his curiosity when they arrived at town.
