Chrysalisation

Aden was half way through his morning abolitions when his mother called to him. She said that Dr. Fenryi had some news. He used magic to finish and dress himself almost falling on his face in order to get back to the sitting room.

Dr Fenryi had an expression he had yet to see on the other man's face calm almost serene that did not sit well with Aden. Without preamble he said

"Tell me what you've found"

"After some extensive research my team and I believe we have found a proper diagnosis based on the symptoms identified in this case"

"Stop rambling man and just spit it out" Savarous demanded

"Yes, before our brother takes your head from your body" Cirious said with a grave serious look.

Dr. Fenryi went on as if he hadn't hear the twins.

"The condition is called Chrysalisation, it is a state of hibernation that is triggered by genetic evolution"

"Well done Neil my boy" Aden's father hit the younger man on his back. Dr. Fenryi actually blushed. "But could you put everything you just said in layman terms so even my little Gracie can understand"

Dr. Fenryi bowed slightly "yes ofcourse your highness" He straighten his shoulders " Please everyone have a seat I have prepared a presentation for just such an event"

When everyone except Aden was seated.(He peppered to stand menacingly). Dr. Fenryi used a pen projector to assist in his explanation.

"We initially didn't know what this was because of how very rare it is. The information was located deep in the palace's archives in ancient books not on any library database. In order to understand what is happening to Mona right now you must first understand that evaluation happens constantly in Trigalaxa but on a minor levels now. Skin, hair and eye color is affected by our environment, we just associate it to the magic of our worlds."

The projector lit up to illustrate ancient signs and symbols "when we first arrived at this three plant solar system and colonized it, the environment and the algae automatically began to work on changing us to fit the worlds we lived in. We developed abilities and we became able to use to magic and shift that was evaluation on a grand scale -

"We all know our history, my boy how is this connected to my son's mate being in this state " the king quietly but firmly cut in

"According to the archives Chrysalisation happens when true mates of different Kind couple and one has more dominant manna and algae count then the other-

"- Mona is...was a latent..." Aden said abruptly as the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place.

"You have deduced correctly my prince" Dr. Fenryi agreed. "We are all born with the evolutionary gene formed from the manna and algae in our systems. Hers was triggered with the blood exchange because Mona's genetic make up is weaker than yours Aden"

"She is now evaluating into a dragon shifter..." Aden said slowly his mind moving slowly trying to process what the doctor was saying.

"Again you are correct" Dr Fenryi began to pace "This used to happen often in the early years of colonization but it became less and less because as we evolved each species became stronger so the gene became dormant according to or records this has not happen in LaTierra, LaTerre or La-Tè in thousands of years"

"How long Neil?" Aden questioned anxiously

Dr. Fenryi knew exactly what Aden wanted to know "This state would last anywhere between 21 to 25 days"

Within the quiet of the shocked people in the room Aden's dragon sent hit waves of happiness. So that is why his dragon wasn't panicking it knew all along that this is what was happening and he even put it in motion by inciting the blood exchange.

"It is my recommendation that she be placed in a cool warm place to finish the process" Dr. Fenryi said and closed the pen projector

"So I did this to her?" Aden asked distressed

Dr. Fenryi grasped the other man by his shoulders and looked straight into his eyes. "This is actually a good thing Aden, your mate will now be stronger. Suitable for a for a dragon shifter's mate. Besides being a laten must have been hard in a world where you either have element gifts, can use magic or can shift. And she is not in pain. By all account..."

Aden shout the other man up with a bear hug "Thank you for all your work Dr. Fenryi"

The doctor was a little shocked by the prince's sudden action he responded awkwardly by patting the prince on his back.

"No thanks necessary prince Aden" Dr. Fenryi said when Aden let him go. "I was simply doing my job"

He cleared throat "When the process is complete she will need a calm relaxing environment. Your mate will no doubt be confused and disoriented. We are all used to the presents of our beast. She will not be and the physical changes will be disconcerting to her as well. Essentially she will be like a new born dragonling but with mature dragon shifter power and attributes"

Everyone in the room took several minutes to digest the Doctor's words.

It was Graceann an who broke the silence "Sooo she'll have to go to dragon shifter classes like me?"

Aden laughed picking up his little sister "Not quite little bug" he twirled her around to make her laugh "but I'm sure you will have many things to teach her"

"That's awesome I've never been a teacher before!"

Everyone laughed at that.

"So what your saying doc is that she's be able to use magic too?" Cirious asked suddenly.

"Or have abilities" Savarous chimed in

"And be able to shifter at all levels?" Morpheus added

The family peppered Dr. Fenryi with questions. The once fidgety man answered all their questions calmly and unhurriedly.

"It is our assessment that yes she will have all of the traits of a Shiftkind"

"Anymore question?" He asked when there was none forth coming he continued. "With your permission we would still like to check on her, as she progresses and document this event as I have said previously stated this has not happened in thousands of years. We would like to update our records"

"Yes" Aden gave his consent.

Everyone expected the doctor to leave but he shocked them all by saying

"We have more news"

"What are you waiting on man tell us" Savarous demanded

"Davi has located Mona's data files. After we searched these eleven provinces databases and found nothing. It is as if the information has been erased. We searched through the areas in and around where Prince Aden first met her and still we found nothing. The research department had to developed an algorithm that would search for Mona's specific information, like her height, features, her laten state etc. It has produced a nintynine point nine percent match. This is the information."

He handed the file over to Aden "As we have concluded our diagnosis, we no longer require the information however we thought it best that you have it Aden."

Aden took the file and nodded to the other man.

Everyone thought that was it but the man continued ominously

"I have one warning for you all. In our research it notes that because the newly mated couple is denied physical access to each other. The other half falls into mating heat putting out pheromones and becomes somewhat unstable, maybe even violent. Everyone who comes in contact with the non-evolving partner will be affected. The danger could be physical harm or the pheromones triggering their own meting heat. Therefore I recommend that non-mated individuals stay away until Mona has completed her transition"

Everyone waited quietly to see if Dr. Fenryi would continue. When he didn't

Lilly ushered him out of the room heaping praises on him and his team.

Aden disengaged the medical scanner and took Mona's Chrysalis to his bedroom.

"Well it's going to be an entertaining few weeks" Cirious rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
