Ku Jian groaned as she made to stand, realizing that she had broken her right leg. Hearing cracking above, she stilled under the rubble, slowed her breathing and ignored her pain. She stayed in place for a while till the rubble started to shift on top her. After a tensed while, light tore through the darkness, hitting her eyes hard, making her squint at the familiar face of Tie Nse above her.

“You stayed hidden, I thought you had died,” he commented as she groaned loudly in pain. She crawled out from under the rubble unto one limb. She looked around, noticing that there was no rain.

“No rain. I thought I heard crackling in the sky back then,” she commented in between ragged breaths. This pain was nothing compared to being torn apart when Ed had an episode.

“I heard that too. Hopefully, not all storms are rainstorms,” Tie Nse said.

“Where are they?” Ku Jian asked, looking back at Tie Nse. Only then did she notice his bloody sleeves as he held a limp hand.
