Alone in his Room

Reid was about to get up when his gaze landed on Rain who was still seated. But something had changed. Her face was glowing up and her eyes were sparkling as if she was seeing the fireworks on the 4th of July. A small smile was painted on her lips. He could have sworn that she looked like an angel and nodded as he had already given her that nickname which suited her very much.

He was scared to move, not to break this trance but he was too curious to see what had made her so fixated.

She blinked for a couple of seconds and tilted her head as if she was looking at the person she loved.

Reid let out a chuckle as soon as he spotted the object of her fascination.

"You want some fries, Angel?" Rain nodded still lost in the trance, but as soon as the laughter registered her brain, she tried to look away hiding her embarrassment.

"Ummm I mean...if it's possible...we can pack them up and take them away?" The innocence, the hesitation, the purity in her face, and her words, couldn't be compared to anyone on earth. She was celestial.

Reid didn't wait any further before placing the order for her, all the while looking at the girl who had captured her mind since the day he saw her.

"Is it a takeaway?" The girl behind the counter asked in the most seductive voice she could manage. But it was like a spell that Reid was under, he couldn't take his eyes off Rain.

"Uh-huh," the only words he could manage.

There were only a few customers left in the cafe and the Staff had already started to pack things up. Rain was on her feet as soon as she saw Reid approaching her. The unknown girl had lent her a small bag to keep her wet clothes which she had promised to return later.

Reid handed her the fries and she held them carefully, trying not to drop any of her precious fries.

The street had almost gone silent. The wet roads were covered with the green leaves which had been stepped on. Even though there was no traffic, both of them stuck to walking on the footpath. The chilly air made Rain shiver again, as her legs were mostly bare. Reid slowly put his arm around her and slightly rubbed her.

"It's nearby, we will be there soon" he whispered as that seemed appropriate with the silence around them.

He was right as they arrived at his building in only a couple of minutes. The rain had been eating one fry at a time, trying to savor the taste for long. He unlocked the door as led her in. As soon as he locked the door, Rain's head shot up.

That's when she took in her surroundings. He was at a guy's place, around midnight, alone. She hadn't told anyone, well there was no one to tell. On top of that, she had only met him two times. She patted her back in her mind.

*Good going Rain, Ted Bundy would have been so proud of you*

She looked at Reid, her legs shivering and hands shaking. She could feel her heart as it was pounding fast. But Reid, he was occupied in something.

*Is he looking for ropes to tie me up? Is this the time, I should start to scream?*

The rain had almost opened her mouth when Reid turned around trying to hide something behind his back.

*Is it a knife? Is he a serial killer?*

So many thoughts were running in her mind.

"I am sorry, I forgot that my roommate's stuff would be lying around. If you could just...turn around. I would hide it super quickly" there was a fear in his voice and Rain knew that he wasn't lying to her.

She turned around and tried to look everywhere but behind her. Her gaze landed on the big posters of cars on the wall. She assumed that it was Reid's side of the room.

"Is it a Buick?" She said pointing at the poster of a black car in front of her. All she could hear were the sounds of Reid moving around the room and giggled.

"Yes, you are right. You see it only weighed about 2500 pounds and had a 215 cubic inch V8. The 215 might have put out 155 horsepower on regular gas. Also, the Buick got better gas mileage. It was less than six feet wide, only 15 feet 8 inches long, and according to the spec sheet, got 15.9 miles to the gallon." There was a different shine in Reid's eyes as he talked.

"Oh. I just knew the car name" Rain bit her lip and looked down.

"It's okay, I can tell you about cars. Especially the ones from 60-70s" He came forward and brushed her hair.

"Uh..maybe a few more minutes" Reid looked around and said.

Rain sighed and turned around looking at the condition of the room. "Let me help" before Reid could say something, she had already started picking up the empty chips and beer cans laying on the floor.

Reid smiled and crossed his arms "what would be men without women?"

"Scares... really scares," Rain said without looking up which made Reid laugh.

*Keeper..she was a keeper*

Rain shook her head and carefully picked up the rest of the trash. She had no clue why she was doing it, but she liked things organized. Or maybe she liked him. She immediately shut her brain down on that idea. She wasn't supposed to feel that way.

*He will soon meet a girl with a softer voice and stronger arms and she will not have weird dreams or an addiction for tea or eyes that never stay dry. He will fall into her bed and she'll go back to spending Friday nights with people who never learned her name, or sitting alone in the cafe*

As she was almost done, she stood up and looked around. It was a typical guy's room. There were barely any colors. The bedsheets were plain, no curtains, stone-like a pillow, posters of cars, posters of anime, posters of some action movie. A couple of books lying on the ground, some dumbbells, tissues which belong in the kitchen. The most interesting part was the table which was placed at the center, having a multi-socket for laptop, charger, and a small fan. It looked like no one ever walked in this room.

"...fun?" Rain was too lost in observing the room that she missed what he said.

"What?" She asked again trying to not look as someone was caught red-handed.

"Want to see something fun?" Reid asked again, a smile playing on his lips. But this was a different smile, a smile we display when we are scheming something.

Rain nodded and started following him, their feet stopped in front of a door.

*Was it his red room of pain?* She bit her lip again as all the fears from earlier came back to her.

He slowly opened the door and to her surprise, it was not an adult room but a small gym. A gym having monkey bars, a little high for kids.

"Come on, don't be scared" he chuckled at her again, his hand on the small of her back.

"I haven't done it since I was a kid, I might have even forgotten about it" Rain rubbed her hands together getting anxious.

"In that case, let me help you" Reid slowly moved towards her and settled his hands on her waist, and lifted her. Rain quickly held the bars which felt slippery.

"You can do it, angel, just move to the next one" He whispered and Rain did the same, her arms getting sore by every second.

"No no no ...I can't...it's gonna slip..it's gonna" he chuckled and settled her back on the ground booping her nose.

"You did well. Uh.. would you mind going hiking tomorrow, with me?" Reid asked her to bring her back to the room. He went into the kitchen and brought her a water bottle.

"I have never hiked," Rain said, taking a sip and keeping it back.

"Oh then maybe the one at the mall?" He arched his eyebrow and Rain nodded.

*Was it a date? A second date?*
