How to make him notice you

*Ring Ring*

Reid was still looking at Rain when his phone rang. For a second, he thought about not picking it up. She was looking like she had just seen a ghost.

If he could just hug her right now, he knew he won't stop.

Without looking away, he reached for his phone, but as soon as his gaze landed on the number, the smile on his face turned into a frown.

He didn't want to leave. He had just found her.

But as if the ringing became more urgent, pushing him towards what was important right now.

"Angel"

Rain blinked finally.

Reid was talking to her.

"I have to go for now. I will send you some videos, just check them and I will see you at home" he stood up, but his legs were still not moving.

"I should. I should get going"

Rain only nodded once. How could she stop him anyway?

As Reid left, she put back her head over the table again.

Emma advanced her with another chocolate shake and a cup of coffee for herself.

"So is that the guy?" There was a playful smile on her face, as she sat down in front of Rain.

Rain looked up and pouted.

Just like a little cat, who had left her favorite toy.

"Did you try what I told you?"

"Yes, and I am not smiling again," Rain said with a straight face, head still on the table.

"I guess it didn't go as planned" Emma clicked her tongue and looked sideways.

More customers had started coming in, as the evening was approaching.

One of the staff had turned on the lights and was taking orders from the new arrived.

"I guess it would be much better over the phone" a sneaky smile crept up on Emma's face.

"What do you mean?" Rain looked up, bringing her elbows on the table and cupping her face between both hands.

"I mean call him and ask him out. You obviously can't do it face to face, so just call" Emma jumped up and down, excited.

"But.."

Emma quickly dismissed Rain's excuse by cutting her short

"Nope, a guy likes a confident girl. He would be impressed by this. Trust me" she was clapping her hands like a 5-year-old.

Rain took out her phone from her ripped jeans and dial his number.

"It's ringing," she said.

"Yes, I suppose that's how it works"

"Hello" he answered

Rain looked at Emma, her eyes going wide, her lips opened and closed without making any sound

"Speak" Emma whispered.

Rain tried again, but no words came out

"You can do it" Emma have her a thumbs up

"A..." Rain was barely able to say a word

"Hello, I can't hear you"

"Arrrrrrrrr" Rain's face was going red. She didn't know what was happening.

"Is somebody there?" He asked

"Meow" Rain quickly disconnected and almost threw her phone on the table.

There was complete silence for several minutes, as Rain looked at the phone. Even Emma didn't say anything.

"So I guess, I am not talking either" Rain said with a look of horror on her face.

"Mmmm. I guess" Emma shook her head. There should be something they could do.

"There are few more things we could try, which won't involve talking" Emma suggested raising her eyebrows.

"I don't know, Emma," Rain said, sounding too low.

"Don't worry, it's some easy tricks" Emma said again with a confident smile.

Rain wanted to believe her. She knew Emma was really friendly. She had seen it with her own eyes, how anyone would come whenever Emma needed them.

Rain would too, with how much Emma was trying to help her.

"Hear me out. If you want a guy to notice you, you have to be near him almost constantly but in a subtle way."

Rain nodded her head.

"Like don't talk, but be around him, so he notices your presence and your absence"

"Then" Emma looked at Rain observing her from head to toe

"We need a little change of colors here. You need to maybe put on red clothes or just red lipstick with a little makeup" there was a frown on her face.

She had never seen her in anything other than black clothes and any make-up at all. It was like she was trying to be invisible.

"Yes, I guess we should try with these steps" Emma nodded her head as if talking to herself.

But suddenly her gaze shifted when she smelled something intoxicating, or someone.

There he was again, today a bit late, then his usual time. But just like every day, he looked for her as soon as he entered, but when he saw her looking at him, he quickly looked away.

Emma did the same and giggled.

Someone brought him his order and he started mixing the sugar he powered in the coffee.

Emma's fingers followed the same action, as she glanced over him again.

"I guess someone else should also try to talk to someone they like"

Emma looked at Rain, a little confused, "Did you say something?"

Rain giggled

"Nothing. I should go for now." She got up knowing what Emma needed. A little time alone.

Rain unlocked the door and walked in. To her relief, no one was home. Which meant, she could take a long bath and wipe the dust off her. Also maybe try a few makeup tips.

She knew she had a red lipstick kept somewhere.

She dumped out all of her stuff on the bed and started going through it.

Luckily she found the white bathrobe she thought she had lost and a little broken lipstick.

She could do with that.

She had never felt this nice in a whole week after the pleasant bath she took.

She was liking the new silence, she got after the events that had happened recently.

Clicking on certain videos, she was finally able to land on the one, which had products she was able to find in her packed stuff right now.

Everything else looked way too expensive to afford for now.

She put her phone at one end and a small mirror and began applying the lipstick.

Knowing that she could clear the smudges later, she proceeded to put on the rest of the makeup.

"Hmmm...I guess this should be enough" she applied talcum on her face, but as she bends to look at herself in the mirror, the power went off.

"Damn" she tied her robe around her and started looking for a candle. She could bet, she saw one near the door.

"Is anyone home? Why is it so dark?"

Sebastian called from the hall, and his footsteps grew louder as he approached the door.

Rain quickly lit the candle she found and moved towards the door.

*Wow, why didn't I just put on the flashlight of the phone*

It hit her, but now that the candle was lit, she was okay with that.

She unlocked the door with the left hand, holding the candle with the right one.

"Than….Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa demon demon" Sebastian let out a scream, stumbling on his legs and falling on his ass

"Oh god where?" Rain jumped up, her hold on the candle tight.

Sebastian only raised his finger towards her, shivering finger.

"What?" Rain took another step towards him

"Reid....man....there is...damn..is that you?"

His voice finally became a little soft as his pupil adjusted to the surrounding.

"Why are you screaming?"

Sebastian took a deep breath and started to get up

"What's.. your face?" He said between panting

"Umm..was just trying out something" She turned back approaching her bed.

"You just killed me. Please. Never. Try. This. Again" he emphasized each word and pointed his finger towards her face.

Rain had already started wiping off the makeup on her face.

Sebastian took careful steps and settled down beside her.

"I heard what happened today," He said looking ahead.

"It's cool. It's the usual" she tried to brush it off, as she pulled a blanket around her.

"You see, what I do is, I insult them back" he turned towards her.

"Like first of all, beauty sleep won't help you, with a face as ugly as yours, you need to hibernate."

"And and your teeth are so yellow, you almost caused a traffic making all go slow"

"Uh also sorry could you translate that in English coz I don't speak asshole"

Rain didn't know if she would use any of it, but it made her laugh. Those were some pretty good comebacks.

"You know things like this" Sebastian looked away for a minute, searching for something in his bag.

"I don't know how to do this, but I know this is sorta a guy room and you might have felt left out so here"

In his hand was the cutest looking stuffed penguin, Rain had ever seen.

Sebastian handed the penguin to Rain, and she was almost near tearing up.

It was the sweetest thing, anyone had ever done for her.

Broken girls or just girls are not complicated. It's really easy to make them happy. They don't need big gifts or to be pampered constantly. A small gesture like this, and they would melt.

That's how fragile and precious they are.

It wasn't just a stuffed penguin, he had given her a friend. She had been feeling so lonely all this time, and now she had someone, someone who would be there with her always.
