Dea POV
No one speaks afterward, all seem to be in their own little world, remembering pasts and shadows by the looks in their eyes. We all laid our bedrolls around the fire in a circle, during the conversation we had all been sitting on them, now though most of us seem to have the same idea in laying down for some rest.
It appears that they had already had a routine of who is on watch, no words are spoken nor any indication that Koal gave an order. Over the last day, I have found that he seems to be the leader of this little group, and one thing stuck to me from the conversation earlier is that Ryker made it seem as though they had gotten all of the other opponents from the other territories.
I just tuck the information into the back of my mind to be taken out and examined more closely later. I doubt I will be able to get any information from these men about them, though that doesn't mean I won't at least try.
Ryker takes the first watch, leaving Casey to my left as the closest person to me. I lay on my back staring at the stars above me through the canopy of the trees, it's a clear beautiful night. Staring at the stars, listening to the crackling of the fire makes sleep lull me to sleep without a fight.
Koal POV
I can't help but look at this oddity of a woman, she laying sleeping with six men surrounding her that she just met. A deep sleep from her deep easy breathing it seems, odd if nothing else. All the other women we had to retrieve were frightened or on guard throughout at least the first week with us, yet this one sleeps soundly as if she knows we won't do anything to her.
She must either trust the King in the fact he sent men to retrieve them and they would not dare harm them or it is something else. She is something else, not just by her fighting and her calmness. When she spoke of fighting in the challenges, I could see the pain from it. This Warlady did not relish in the pain and bloodshed she causes, she does it out of necessity it seems, nothing more nothing less.
All the men seem to have an interest in the woman, especially the twins by the look in their eyes even now. I look to Ryker, without training you wouldn't be able to see him but he is up in one of the oak trees high up to be able to see the perimeter of the clearing. I see that he is looking straight at Dea, something that needs to be stopped prior to anything getting even started.
Prior to the Match, I need to keep the men in line, after the Match, I could care less where they stick their pricks but until after everything, I need them to have a clear mindset. They can do whatever after the fact as long as Dea is alive after that is.
