Chapter 19: Summer Operations

Ever since you met the Foxes and took them in, your Sleep has drastically improved. You are very grateful for that. But you still find yourself waking up at random times during the night.

This time, the clock shows 3:17AM. Only a few hours after you fell asleep.

"Milord, it unwise to leave your the Bed until the Sun has risen." the Daemon suggests.

"You can say that out loud...but I have to get those SVD Rifles ready for them." you tell him.

"May I ask you why?" he asks.

You start to explain to him that, during Summer the infected become very agile and increasingly faster as the temperature rises. The Doctrine to combat infected during Summer suggests a long-range approach if you have to fight them.

Their mobility and agility come from their muscular system being more elastic during the hot Summer Days. Many fell victim to that, thinking the infected remained the same.

The Russian Forces found out about that when their patrols were chased all the way back to their HQ during a particularly hot Day during Fall.

Your idea to the problem is the following, have the Foxes stay at Range covered by the Daemon while you go in close. The probability that the Infected bite through the specialized Armour is extremely low, but not 0.

Together with the Rifles, also came modding kits. The SVD Mk.27 has specialized rail mounting for a wide range of Optics. Including the old and iconic Dovetail mount on the left side of the Rifle.

Heading downstairs, you think of making a very-early morning Coffee or not. Rather than stopping to think you progress with your Plans.

Heading into your Weapons Room, you take out the Rifle, they still retain their Factory-new smell. A good sign, each of them comes with 5 extra Magazines.

Before you met your Girlfriends you snatched two rather interesting Scopes from a Non-Aligned Airdrop.

Non-Aligned Airdrops are a normal Airdrop with a variety of Supplies in it. The only difference between them and the ones dropped by Russia or NATO is that it has no markings on it, no way on how to tell what side it is meant for or dropped by.

Taking the Scopes out of their Cases, you take a good look at them. There are no markings as far as you can see. But then, the sights controls are in Russian.

Starting to remember that you have access to the Russian Equipment Inventory on your Device, you quickly check for a model that resembles the ones you own.

The Search ends quickly when you use filters, the found Scope matches every aspect of the Scope you have in your hand. From physical appearance to controls, they match.

The Name, or rather designation seems to be "Nochnaya i dnevnaya teplovizionnaya optika(Night and Day Thermal Optic)" the abbreviated form is NDTO in English, there seems to be none in Russian.

The Production behind the Scope is Top-Secret, therefore it bears to markings of the Producer. The Building Process is unknown and only hand-picked factories can produce a very small amount of these Optics.

The estimated value lies between 2.34 Million Roubles to 2.78 Million Roubles if sold.

Out of joy, you yell out loud. Forgetting your Girlfriends are still sleeping and it is still early in the morning.

Before you can even think you hear running from upstairs, it must be the Foxes.

"Owner what happened!?" Katie says rushing into the Room with her Sister.

You explain to them what you found out. They stare at you in joy, nearly exploding from it.

"Master~ that is fantastic news!" Kate says, giving you a hug with her Sister.

"I wanted to give these to you two, for your Rifles, but... we might've to sell them in the end." you tell them.

Explaining the further details of the situation they sit down and look at each other.

"Master, we don't need these Rifles you already gave us the other ones. We don't need new ones." Kate says, trying to convince you.

"Girls you need them." you tell them, they start to worry.

You begin to explain to them what the Summer means for upcoming Operations.

"No! Why would you get close to them when they are more dangerous!?" Katie says, confused and angered.

"Only a few types of infected get that mutation as far as my scientific Knowledge goes." you tell them, hoping these facts calm them down.

"It doesn't matter! We won't let you get near them either way!" they say, starting to panic little by little.

Continuing to explain the specialized Armour set you'll receive by Russia will keep you safe from bites. They don't seem to like that either, they watch in horror as you explain how the Armour will protect you.

"Girls please, listen to me. I'll be safe, promised." you reassure them.

The Foxes begin to see the ways that the Summer Doctrine keep the Operators safe and secure.

There is one catch...the Armour can't be too heavy otherwise it could impact performance and ultimately cause problems. Therefore the Protection it delivers is very high against bites and Scratches but the Projectile Protection is decreased to maintain the weight.

"Master can't you get a different Armour set, something that is balanced..." Kate suggests.

"I can, but it will cost quite a bit to do so." you tell them.

They suggest selling the Optics to buy you the Armour and other supplies like food, and Movies even.

You start to ponder over different ways to accomplish everything but in the end. There is none.

"Alright, tomorrow we'll tell Katya what we want to do. Sound good?" you tell them.

They brighten up immediately, with tails wagging and ears straightened again.

"Alright Owner, we'll go get some more sleep and we'll bring you a Coffee later." Katie tells you.

"Thank you, love you both." you tell them.

They give you a kiss on the cheek each and leave.

While the Foxes get some sleep you work on their Rifles and prepare them for the upcoming Summer. Realizing the Foxes will need bigger backpacks and other Armour as well, it is a good idea to sell the Optics and get Gear and Supplies for it.
