Chapter 3

My name is Daybian; Daybian Miles. (daybian)

That is a nice name. My name is Dalia Henritas but just call me Miss Henri. (attendant)

Oh ok Miss. (daybian)

now for your other information. Can I have your age and date of birth? (miss Henri)

I am 10 years old and I was born on the 17th day of the 3rd month and in the year of our king 838. [1] (daybian)

How accurate is this information? ( miss Henri)

66% Miss, this is what I learnt from the orphanage. ( daybian )

ok close enough. ( miss Henri )

The attendant was busy writing the information on the paper. The light from the pen was getting dimmer and dimmer. then it finally went out like a candle.

here, this is called a status page. It contains your personal information keep it on you at all times. there will be many uses for it in the future. ( attendant)

miss Henri handed me the sheet of paper like it was a special gemstone. I then slowly examined the contents of the status page

STATUS

NAME: DAYBIAN MILES

D.O.B. : 17/03/838

AGE: 10

CLASS: HEALER ( YELLOW *)

RANK: E

it wasn't anything to be excited over but one thing on this piece of paper that caught my eye was the little star beside my class so I decided to ask miss Henri about it.

Miss Henri why is their a star beside my class and does everyone start at rank E? (daybian)

A very observant little fellow; well as you and I know your true color is orange but only you and professors are qualified to know that so the star is acting as a symbol for them to know. (Miss Henri)

oh, I understand now but what about the rank. ( daybian)

Oh well, some persons get rank E± as their starting rank but that is only for persons who have received the green or blue attributes. Now, are you ready to embrace the life of a healer? It may be challenging and mountains may be in the way but as long as you believe in life you will find greatness.

I didn't waste a second thought on my answer. What was I going to do? go back to the orphanage/ hell no!

I would rather die.

I was born ready! ( daybian)

Miss henri slowly put a big smile on her face and motion for me to follow her to the bronze door. wshe knocked on the door 3 times then she turned the lock.

The door started opening.

In a couple seconds all I could see was white. A white blinding light. No floors, No ceiling , No walls.

If this is heaven I really don't want to see what hell look likes.

Don't look so frighten this is just a defensive measure just step over. ( Miss Henri ()

No turning back now. I slowly putmone foot in the light.

As soon as I stepped, I got a splitting headache and collapsed.

When I woke up I was in some sort of tunnel and there were torches affixed to the walls lighting the path.

You sure had a long nap; didn't think your mental strength was that weak. Oh well it is better than some (Miss Henri)

Where are we? ( Daybian )

Wouldn't you like to know? Come on we are wasting daylight here (miss Henri)

I got up, brushed my clothes off, and followed the attendant. While walking I looked back at the place where I was lying down. There were no windows, no doors, nothing to even call an entrance. How did I get into this tunnel?

This was far from natural. I felt more alive, it was like death was foreign to me. This place felt safe, nothing could harm me here.

After about five minutes of walking, we arrived at three openings.

So we are going to take the one on the left. Please don't ask why. I know this place a million times better than you. (Miss Henri)

Aren't you going to tell me where we are going? I have a right to know. ( daybian)

Your rights are practically invalid here so if you want to know where we are going walk faster. (Miss Henri)

This attendant was starting to sound a lot like that nun from the orphanage. After what the attendant just said this place is starting to sound less like heaven and more like hell. My rights are now invalid. What the heck is this place?

Welcome to the school of healing. You are looking at the doors to the dormitories. Be prepared for the longest eight years of your life. (Miss Henri)

We were currently looking at two large bronze doors. After exiting the tunnel we arrived at a wide area. The double doors were before us and o the left were plaques and frames of awards and special persons the school had received over the years. On the right side was a large counter; well it looked more like a shop. The shopkeeper looked like one of those vendors who had nothing you wanted.

After staring at the doors for no apparent reason I went over to the counter with Miss Henri.

At the counter, there was an old man. Old was too much of an understatement, ancient seem more appropriate in his case. His beard was at his knees. The strand of hair on his head could be counted if you looked carefully.

Miss Henritas you grace me with your presence to what do I owe this pleasure. (Old man)

You know why I'm here. (Miss Henri)

Ahh another student, this one seems different. Hey kiddo, my name is Mr. wonkier but most people call me old Wonkier but you would have to earn that privilege. And please don't try to look so anxious you are going to love it here. (Mr. wonkier)

His words were no less comforting, what was behind those double doors was a completed mystery, and having an old guy telling me it is going to be lovely doesn't sit well with me.

Enough with the formalities time is of the essence. (Miss Henri)

Hold your horses', young lady. I have been living for so long now that time has become irrelevant to my existence. (Mr. wonkier)

You can say that again. (Mr. wonkier)

A chatty one? (mr wonkier)

Miss Henri nodded her head to answer the old man's question. He then slowly pulled out some drawers and took out a school bag and some school supplies and a handbook. He then placed them neatly on the counter.

These are going to belong to you now. ( Mr wonkier)
