We have started pushing on the men who had been trapped by our battle at the city. They fought hard, but we still crushed them easily. Thankfully most of them surrendered. I'm tired of the fighting and tired of this war we are in. I think most of us are tired of everything right now.
I have not been home in almost three years since I got drafted into the effort. The fighting had went on for around two years before that. Seeing the war on television is something that people have become used to seeing. Being in the war is something different, something new to us. I wish it was something that hadn't become normal for us in the first place. It seems so unnatural for this much death and destruction to be normal for a human.
These are thoughts that had been in my head until the radio came to life with a news report: Peace has finally achieved in Europe as the talk between the two nations. Soldiers can finally go home to their families and rebuild their cities together. I hope that peace can be found across the ocean where fighting is continuing, and with the fog finally lifting I hope we can see life return to normal. Peace be with you all and may god find you all happy in the future.
It brought a smile to my face as I heard peace being found in Europe. I hope that it will mean the war is coming to an end soon. I do know that means our troops will be being brought over to this front. With that being said right now we have stopped our movements and we are taking a pause from all the fighting. I'm glad they understand you can't push troops none stop.
Like I said before everyone is tired of war. It has been four or five years of hell. I think that is because everyone forgot where this war had started.
Long Ago:
We marched on a city much larger than the one we attacked before we squeezed the enemy forces into surrender. This city had to be under by our forces for I don't know five months maybe. It forced us to take advantage of our training forces which is where I come in.
"We are going to help the main forces with their mission. I know you all have not graduated boot camp yet, but think of this as your graduation."
We got shipped out and armed in a rush. Some of the equipment didn't fit correctly for us, but it worked for the situation. It kept us safe long enough to do this one mission. That's what I had thought going into it all. When we joined the siege a trench, a wall, and artillery had been built on the entire border of the city that was connected to land.
Ships have blockaded the ocean and from what we could tell the blockade had been going on for weeks before we arrived. This city was the hiding place of the emperor who tried to take Africa by force before Mahek had rose up against him. The city ended up being in another country after all of his properties got destroyed in the civil war.
This is why the war started in the first place. We invaded the country to capture the man and bring him back for his crimes. The country refused to extradite him to us, and that was justification for the actions taken. We promised the one city would be attacked and no others while we came for him.
No gun shots rang out as we arrived for the siege. Artillery was still cold when we arrived. It was said that a meeting was taking place to have him brought out to us. From the word around the camp was that if they didn't accept our terms then we would attack the city and take him by force.
"Everyone get ready. If they don't accept our terms then we will attack. We will make sure it is turned to dust until we get him back to Africa."
