Chapter 6: a change in mindset

There are no hard things

I strongly believe in the fact that there are no hard things for us to do. I believe that we often misuse the word hard, when in reality the task just takes a lot of time. If it takes you a month to read a book does that mean that reading is hard? Definitely not! Sure, it makes you feel uncomfortable if you don't like reading or if you don't feel like it, but uncomfortable does not mean hard. If you have a dream that you thing is unachievable try to break it down into smaller tasks that are easy to do, and also, make sure to give yourself enough time. Don't be afraid to dream big. If something is humanly possible than you are capable to do it as well. If you are afraid that writing a book is too complex of a task for you then break it into smaller tasks. It is easy to write 100 words. If you do that daily, for long enough, you will eventually end up with a book. This can be applied to anything. "No human is limited" - said Eliud Kipchoge, the marathon world record holder. And he is right. As long as you don't limit yourself you can achieve anything you want if you dedicate it enough time.

Another problem might be thinking that you have to be talented in order to succeed. In surely helps but just talent won't get you anywhere. Do you know why? Because people that we perceive as being "talented" or "gifted" are just the ones that worked hardest. In this case talent = hard work. No one has ever become successful only through pure talent. Everyone that achieved something put an immense number of hours into his craft.

Take a break

It is important to know when to stop. If too much is happening it is hard to keep up, both physically and mentally. Learn to take a day or a week or even a month off of everything you are doing a couple of times a year in order to recover. Too much is too much and we can't be all-out all the time.
