HOW SHE BECAME

Fifteen years ago, there was a man, a man who roamed through Xadia, destroying everything and everyone in his path.

After some time more people joined his believes, they were known as Death eaters. But he...they do not speak his name. Only few, some would say brave, others just plain stupid, didn't fear him. They spoke his name freely...his name... King Sombra. That name brought nothing but suffering to those who spoke it.

Avatar Korra, with the help of her friends, fought against him and his reign of terror. Sadly, they all died doing so. After the terrible death of the avatar, people waited for the next, and they waited and waited. They searched for it, but nothing ever came up.

TWO YEARS LATER

He didn't stop. People were dying around him and there was no one who was powerful enough to stop him. So they did the only thing possible at the time...they ran and they hid.

And then it happened.

The ground shook and a hole appeared in the sky. And through came a little girl, a baby. She just came out of nowhere. The second she came through, the hole closed. What even was that?!

They didn't know what to do with her. So they just put her into an orphanage in Republic City. At the time nobody wanted her, they didn't know who or what she was.

The King got word of the recent events and was intrigued.

And then one night...the night that changed everything... He went there, to the orphanage, to see the young child.

There was only one witness who managed to catch a glimpse of what was taking place in the building. An old lady was walking her dog in the late hours of the night.

She describe it as...a beautiful yet horrifying scene.

There was darkness and then there was light, together they created a beautiful thing...life.

And just like that...his reign ended.

He was no more.

Metal benders went there to make sure every child was ok.

They got inside and on the second floor, in a small room, there was the girl, sitting silently. But there was something new, something odd about her.

A scar, was placed on her forehead, just above her right eye. Just...a small scar in the shape of a lightning.

In the middle of the room, on the floor, there was... A strange black... something. Nobody really knew what was that. They called the most spiritual Airbender at the time, Jinora, a granddaughter of the great avatar Aang and a daughter of Tenzin. She then determined that that was indeed, the dark king, at least what was left of him.

And in the end they also determined that it was the girl who was responsible for his death.

People's lives changed forever. They started worshipping the baby. Some believed she was the next avatar, or that she would grow up to become "the next King Sombra."

They'd make sure that never happened.

But there were still a lot of unanswered questions...for one...how did a child succeed in a task many great benders and wizards died trying complete?

After some time people started treating her as one of their own. The monks took her to the airtemple island. That was her new home, at least it was supposed to be.

And then they gave her a name.

Marinette Dupain - Cheng

And that's how the legend of the girl who lived grew more and more famous by the day, as did the girl.

And then one day... The child just disappeared....
