Paige's Point of View ~

I slowly got up and patted the dirt of my butt so I didn't look like I was playing in mud with a stranger's dog. I sighed heavily as Sadie and Hunter started to chase each other in a circle around me. I wonder who's dog was. And why was it all alone, running around jumping on strangers?

Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my head. It feels like a dagger going in through my ear and out the other, piercing my brain. God, it hurt. Why did I take Hunter on a walk in the first place?

That's when I realized I fell harder than I thought.

I brought my hand up to touch the back of my head, but it hurt even when I slightly tapped it with my pointer finger. As I brought my hand back down from touching my head, I saw dark blood dripping from my fingers.

I heard a loud ringing noise coming from my head, and everything started to get blurry. I felt gravity make me lose balance and tumble onto the floor. The sound around me started to blur. I hear a loud STOMP, STOMP, STOMP. Someone must have been running towards me, but before I could turn around to see who it was, everything went black.

Leo's Point of View ~

I've been playing all day. The sun was so bright it almost blinded me when I looked up at the sky. I decided if I didn't go back inside I'd wind up with a headache from the burning sunlight.

I went back inside, and walked into the kitchen where my mom was making lunch for my sister and I.

"Go take Sadie for a walk and I'll make you lunch," She said without turning around to face me while speaking. I knew she had already made me lunch, but I didn't want to give her a hard time about it. She already works hard enough.

"Alright," I walk out of the kitchen and grab the leash by the front door. "SADIE, LETS GO," I yell, and Sadie came running down the stairs panting. I could tell she was waiting for this. She loves walks.

Sadie has been our dog since... well since forever. I was a baby when my parents got the golden retriever puppy. She's been my best friend since birth.

I clip the leash onto her collar and open the door. All the sudden she's pulling me in the direction of the new park she's been waiting to go to ever since we moved.

When we got to the park, there was a big basketball court.

"Great," I mumble to myself.

I un-clip the leash from Sadie's collar and she starts running around chasing random balls, and digging up the bright green grass.

I walk over towards the basketball court in awe, and realized I should not have left Sadie alone. I turn my body around quickly and search for Sadie. I see a full family having a picnic. No Sadie. I see some teenagers sucking each others face off. No Sadie. I turn my head and see what looks like a skating park, but no Sadie. She must have ran off.

I start to think where she would've gone. Maybe she went somewhere where there was food. No, she probably went looking for another dog.

I calmly start to exit the park and walk through the neighborhood filled with family houses and cars across the streets.

I hear a loud, but small bark. I turn my head and see a chihuahua sitting down by my feet. I bring my eyes up to its owner. It's a girl with a devilish smirk spread across her face.

"Heyy," she greeted while taking a couple of steps closer. She sounded like she was trying to sound sexy or something. It didn't really work.

"Hi," I greeted back, and slowly took a few steps back away from her. She kept staring at me with the same flirty expression on her face. I quickly turned my body around and fast-walked away from her.

Maybe that was rude, but Maddie's favorite dog had just run away, and I needed to find her or my mom would kill me.

By the time I had walked through multiple streets and neighborhoods, I heard a loud bark, this time I could tell it was a big dog, about the size of Sadie. It wasn't Sadie's bark so maybe she might be playing around with another dog. I ran in the direction the bark came from. I could tell it was far away, but I kept running in the same direction.

It was a block away, I could see two dogs running around something. One was a golden retriever. Sadie. And the other was a German Shepherd. I narrowed my eyes trying to see what it was on the ground next to them. It looked like a body. I squinted my eyes harder. A girl. Why would a girl be sleeping on the ground in the middle of the day?

My thoughts were interrupted by a bark. I started to run towards them. I remembered the sun and how hot it was. I was sweating. I think I could literally cook an egg on the sidewalk.

As I was getting closer, my eyes widened when I saw the girl from next door lying on the ground next to Sadie and the German Shepherd playing around. My mom had told me that she went over to her house and met her. She explained how nice and funny she was. When I met her she seemed sarcastic and sassy.

I noticed there was a tiny puddle of dark red liquid next to her head. Blood.

I gasped, "Sadie! What the fuck did you do?" I yelled at her. She gave me a don't look at me I'm just a dog Face. I glared at her.

I turned my head facing towards her. I knelt down and stared at her.

I must have looked creepy because a guy walked by and gave me a weird look. Other than the fact that she had a bad attitude, she was pretty. Her hair was the same dark brown, almost black color, and her eyes...well I couldn't see her eyes, she was unconscious.

I picked her up and held her in my arms and called for the dogs to follow me. They must have gotten the memo, because they ran straight to my house leaving me alone with her.

I knocked on her door and nobody answered. I reached my hand out for the doorknob and twisted it. It was unlocked. I pushed the door open and walked inside. A girl was laying on a large grey couch watching reruns of Friends.

"Your Leo right? What happened? Is that my sister? Why is she bleeding? What did you do?" She threw a million questions towards me. I stood there staring at her. She looked a lot like her sister, but her hair was shorter and she was wearing a lot of makeup, and the girl I held in my arms didn't wear any.

"What's you're sister's name?" I didn't answer her questions, but asked my own.

"I'm Ronnie and that there," She paused and pointed to the girl in my arms,"That is my sister Paige. Now, answer my question." She demanded.

"My dog ran away, and I found...Paige on the ground unconscious. I brought her here because I knew she lived here." I put Paige down on the couch next to Ronnie. I grabbed Sadie and opened the door.

"Wait! Do you like...know of any parties going on this week?" She questioned. I pretended not to hear her and closed the door on my way out. She was kind of annoying.
