Silver Haired Beauty

POV: City Gate Guard

--------------------------------------------------------------

It is about as normal as a day can be. I'm currently working as a gate guard for the city of Cradridge, although in the future I hope to be accepted into the knights order. They make a higher wage in the knights order and get more prestige as well. Men, women, and kids alike all idolize the knights.

As I'm going about my day checking ID's, talking to my partner Reiner, and daydreaming about the future, I see her off in the distance.

"Hey man you see that girl?" I speak to Reiner who was off to my left side leaning up against the stone wall.

"You mean the one in the distance with the silver hair?" Responded Reiner.

"Yeah that one, doesn't she look like a beauty?" I asked.

"I can't tell yet my eyes aren't that good, although it looks like she's wearing some armor." Reiner responds.

As she continued approaching I noticed that everyones eyes were glued to her, both men and women.

I almost forgot about my duty to check ID's, I was too engrossed in her appearance.

"Hey man you were right she's an angel" Reiner finally cut in, pulling me out of my trance.

Along the way, two women were talking about her while entering the city, and she must have heard them, as she glanced at them and smiled.

I can't begin to describe her smile, it was by far the most gorgeous smile I've ever seen. She looks like a goddess descended from the heavens. Each time she smiled it was like she blessed the person it was aimed at.

Even the two women she smiled at blushed! What power!

As she got closer while in line I became more nervous, who wouldn't be? Even Reiner, one of the laziest and most aloof guys I know was trying to fix his hair, in hopes that she might notice him.

"Don't even bother Reiner, she isn't even in your league" I said.

"Thanks man I appreciate it" he responded back sarcastically.

After some time passed with me doing my absolute best to focus on my task at hand without being distracted by her beauty, she was finally in front of me.

I didn't notice it earlier, but she is quite equipped with a sword and two daggers.

As I tried to calm my rapidly beating heart, while acting normally, I finally spit out my common line.

"ID please."

Argh why can't I be cooler! Why do I have to be a lame gate guard, if I was a knight I might have a chance to pick her up!

Unexpectedly, she responds with,

"Um, I'm sorry but I lost my ID while I was out, can I get a new one reissued please?"

It was the most alluring voice I've ever heard! It was kind and genuine sounding, with a hint of coldness, making her seem like a mystery. After she finished her sentence she smiled again, and I unintentionally blushed because of her gorgeous smile.

"Of course ma'am, right this way. Hey Renier come take my place!" I speak to the woman and then yell at Reiner.

This is my chance! I get to talk to her more! I will try to be as nice as possible so maybe she will remember me.

As Reiner was taking my spot to check ID's he mumbled something that I didn't catch, but it seemed like the woman caught it because she giggled cutely making Reiner blush as well.

I took her to the guard post, and made sure she had a seat before sitting down myself. I need to be on my best manners!

I took out the verification crystal to check if she was a criminal, however I doubt I even need this. She is such a beauty, how would she be a criminal?

"I'm going to need you to put your hand on this and then pass magic power through it" I say.

She looks puzzled for a second before slowly placing her hand on the crystal.

"What is this used for?" She asks.

"It is used to determine if a person without a ID is a criminal or a bandit, but I doubt I even need to use it in your case" I explain to her.

She put in her magic power, and the crystal glowed blue, of course, how would such a beauty be a criminal?

I go through the last part of the process saying, "ok, that about wraps it up, I just need you to pay the entrance fee and you are free to go."

She seems conflicted before stating, "umm, actually I lost my ID along with my money so I can't pay the entrance fee, but I hunted some monsters, so I can pay the fee after I sell them at the adventurer's guild."

Oh so she's an adventurer, I guess that would explain her equipment. I've never seen her around before, so she must be from another city.

"Oh you're an adventurer? I would have never guessed that! It's ok this time, I'll let you off the hook, just don't tell anyone" and I flashed a smile.

Yes this is it! With this she will appreciative and then remember me! Smooth job self! I mentally pat myself on the back.

She then gave me her beautiful smile again, "thank you so much mister! I'll remember this!"

I blushed once again, but I was celebrating in my mind.

Mission complete! I did it! She will definitely remember me now!

"Don't forget to remember to get your adventurers ID reissued. Well then, you may leave, enjoy your time in the city of Cradridge" I say happily before escorting her out of the room.

I couldn't help but stare as the silver haired beauty walked off towards the city.

What a goddess.

Returning to my post, I couldn't help but think about her for the rest of the day. Maybe working as a gate guard isn't that bad!
