Prologue Part 5

She leaned back forward as one of the maids used a good-sized bowl to pour water over her head, helping to rinse the dirt and dried blood out. After about ten minutes, the water seemed to run somewhat clear, taking a good look at her hair, it appeared she has jet black hair, the ends, naturally white tipped at about six inches of the overall ends. Her hair appeared fairly long. Till she healed up more, there was no real way to tell how her skin looked. Reaching out with a somewhat shaky hand, she grabbed a bar of soap and a cloth. Rubbing the soap liberally in the cloth, she lathered it up and began to wash her arms off. She almost forgot that lye soap tends to sting, but at least it was disinfecting at the same time. Bearing the pain of the immense stinging to her fresh wounds, she continued washing. Raising her legs one at a time, she propped them on the side and carefully washed her legs clean. She then washed her chest and stomach, turning to her mother or the maids, she asked them to please help scrub her back off properly. One of the two maids simply nodded her head and took the soapy rag from her and washed her back down. Sachi winced in pain, but there was nothing that could be done about the stinging sensation of the lye soap.

Lastly, she asked one of the maids to pour water over her hair once more to rewet her hair. Taking the bar soap, she scrubbed her hair thoroughly, jumping slightly at the stinging of her scalp. With the help of one of the maids, she rinsed her hair clean. Helping her out, they dried her off and put her in a loose nightgown. This would make it easier to clean and dress her wounds for now. Leaning herself on the two maids and her mother, they carefully took her to the outhouse long enough to let her use the restroom for the final time this evening. Guiding her back to her bed, they carefully set her down. She sat on the edge catching her breath. Each breath seemed to be painful, she sat on the side till her breathing slowed back down to a normal rhythm. Looking around slightly, she spotted the comb on the edge of the smaller table. Her mother seeing what she had looked at, grabbed up the comb and helped run it through her hair. She finished by braiding her hair and tying it with a bit of string, making sure to weave it in the last, locking it in place. Sitting the comb back on the table, her mother went back to helping the maids.

Before she laid all the way back, the maids helped to redistribute the straw and straightened out the hide covering it. Helping her to lean back, her mother and one of the maids took the medicated salve for pain and helped to rub it into the worst areas. On her limbs, they used the shredded sweet grass stalks to help hold the salve in place better. Using small, bradded rope to hold it in place, this would hopefully help ease the pain enough to sleep better at night. The cook finally showed up with the potato and chive soup. Helping her sit back up, she unsteadily used a spoon and ate the soup as best as she could. When the bowl was close to empty, she merely drank out of it directly. Downing some of the water that had been given to her, she handed the cup to her mother and struggled as she laid herself back down on her bed for the last time. She breathed heavily as it was just so hard to do the simplest things right now.

Sachi was worn out simply trying to take care of herself. All she could think to herself was, "wow, I barely did anything and I want to pass out", but this thought she kept to herself. It was a tiring day, her mother still kept sitting in the chair at the edge of her bed once again and held her hand as she fell asleep. Her mother fell asleep with her head on the edge of her bed, still holding her daughters' hand. After a few hours, and a strenuous walk about the river and village at night, her father showed back up to find his wife asleep next to his daughter. Walking over to his wife, He softly nudged his wife awake as he asked how Sachi was doing.

Adie Bennion: (Walking over to his daughters' bed, he drug over another chair and had a seat…) "Well now, I see that she is in her night clothes at least. How is she doing now? Did she at least eat something?"

Ceilic Bennion: "She ate after we helped her to the bath. She wanted to get a good scrub on her wounds and get them cleaned out so the medicine would be more effective for her. But she never cried despite the pained expression upon her face. I just do not know how she tolerated such pain."

Adie Bennion: "That is incredibly good. I am glad to see that she still has so much fight in her. Makes me proud to know all our training was taken rather well."

Ceilic Bennion: "Yes, I am also glad for that too dear. But dear, did you go and speak to the tracker? Were they able to trace the scent? Did anything come of it?"

Adie Bennion: "Yes, we found the spot she went in at, and she was right. More than her scent was at the place she initially fell in. But with so many people around, we wanted to play it safe for now. The tracker knows the scent and says he will not soon forget it. Sadly enough, it is one of the family members."

Ceilic Bennion: "I am so extremely disappointed that she was right. I did not want to believe that a family member would try and do that to one of their own. I wanted her to be mistaken, but in the end, this is how it turn out. What are we going to do about this turn of events?"

Adie Bennion: "We will have to take it slow and carefully. We cannot let them know that we know. If all goes right, we can catch all the people involved, not just the one who pushed her in. I am guessing that there is a minor conspiracy going on because she is the strongest alpha, and they are trying to take her out. Though they seemed to have forgotten the most important things. Like Selena dedicating our roles to all of us."

Ceilic Bennion: "All because of that. They knew this long ago, she would have that power, she was born with it, it is not something that can be bestowed upon. So, they were not born with such luck, why they are being petty about it now? This thing our daughter possess happens only once every three generations, it is not her fault she got it, but I am proud she did. It is supposed to be celebrated, not feared."

At that moment, Sachi woke up as she had heard her mother say that. She turned on her side as the pain was bad again, sweat drizzled down her brow as she struggled to open her eyes. Each time she tried to stretch; a new pain seemed to tear through her. Finally managing to get into any position that was partially comfortable, she breathed heavily as she tried to get through the pain spike. Once the immediate pain eased up some, she managed to get her eyes to open up all the way. It appeared it was morning time as the birds were making more noise than usual. She somehow managed to sleep the majority of the night. It seemed as though her parents did not sleep at all; they looked after her instead and it was apparent by looking at their faces. The feelings she had at seeing her parents may not have been her own, but she was glad they were there, nonetheless. A tear fell from her eyes as she just realized she would never see her own parents ever again. Maybe, she could come to love this Sachi's parents as if they were her own in time. Looking over to her parents, she strained to smile though she did reply without realizing it to her mother's statement. She struggled, with an unsteady arm, to wipe her brow off as she did.

Sachi Bennion: "Mother, I am glad you and father are here right now. I am proud that I can possibly bring you such pride with my status as an alpha. I just hope that finding my mate will not take so long. I know we heal fast; I just hope most of my injuries are better before the Crimson Lunar Tribe members come."

Ceilic Bennion: (Startled by her words, her mother picked her hand up and held it lightly again…) "Why are you awake. You should be sleeping; how much did you hear just now?"
