Ch 1 Part 1

Chapter 1

Her parents simply smiled as they kissed her on her forehead and headed towards the other end of their house. It had been almost a full forty-eight hours since they had slept after all. The maids showed back up and helped her to the outhouse for one last trip outside before bed. Now that she was not in so much pain, Sachi decided to take a good look outside while there was still a little light outside. As she looked around outside, she noticed that her parents had more than doubled the guards around their home. From what she could see, their house consisted of stone and mud and was in an elongated shape that appeared to be about twelve to eighteen meters long with lightly bulging areas most likely for bed spaces. A thick thatched style roof covered it as straw hung over the roof's edges. She raised her brow slightly as she realized it was similar to that of an ancient culture in her original world's history. Though to actually see something similar for herself, was quite the treat. In fact, almost all the architecture she could see all resembled that of the ancient Celtics of her original world. Well, she would have more time to look about when she got better. She finished going to the outhouse and headed back inside. Taking a drink of her water glass, she climbed in bed the rest of the way with one of the maids help and tried her best to go to sleep. Thoughts kept flooding her mind making her slightly restless.

One of the main thoughts seemed to evolve around all the memories of the sibling and cousins. She had two older sisters and three brothers. The second oldest sister was named Arlynn Bennion. In her memory, she was nothing but a mere beta who had yet to find her mate. Somewhere along the way, she had gotten the idea in her head that she was entitled something, though the original Sachi did not seem to know what it was. So, she was clueless herself on it. Her oldest sister was named Kaylan Bennion. She was among the higher end betas. She herself had yet to find her mate, as the oldest daughter, it was quite odd, but not unheard of. Though the original Sachi seemed to feel that her attitude toward others seemed to be the biggest part of the issue. All she could do was see how they were for herself.

Her brothers Cowen, Farrel, and Keyon Bennion were all among the alpha status. Which was not at all uncommon for most families to have at least one male born that way. But Keyon was among the high end of the alpha males and would be the one to take over the leader position when the time came. Her other two brothers would most likely take over the leader positions of whatever clans they were mated into. There was only the one cousin that was overly jealous of Sachi, her name, Tarai Bennion. She was not sure if it was because of her status as the supreme alpha that she was jealous or the fact that someone from the Crimson Lunar Tribe. Either way, her father would soon help to sort that matter out regardless. With these final thoughts, she was finally tired out enough to fall asleep. She wondered how many days this exhaustion would plague her, not to mention the large amount of pain.

It had now been two full days since Sachi had been pushed into the river. Her second oldest sister, Arlynn sat in her own small home that was about ten meters long. Sitting in a rocking chair, she sat in front of the fire seething with anger at the fact that Sachi managed to live. She had also noticed that the guards around her parents' home had been doubled if not more so. As she sat just seething with anger, her only thoughts, "why the hell is she so fucking special? What happens to me if she gets paired to the one, I fancy from the Crimson Tribe? She does not deserve these things, unforgivable!!!" Her sister seemed to forget that as a mere beta, there was nothing she could do about the mating process for the alphas, let alone any other levels in the tribe. At her cousins' home, Tarai sat thinking something similar, as though she were entitled despite the fact that she was also a mere beta. They both just stewed in their resentment at the fact that Sachi had survived the river's rapids. She did not understand it, the ride down the rapids should have killed her, it bothered her very much to where she could not even find it in herself to sleep over the issue. Her only thought, "how do we kill her and still make it look like an accident?" Though nothing seemed to be coming to mind to help quell these thoughts. They were just going to have to think of a better plan. Little did they know, Sachi's father had already had the parties responsible basically pinned down with the help of the tribe's best tracker.

They were being watched secretly by some of the best beta's Adie had. Their orders: To watch the female family members closely. Any that even try to congregate and meet secretly, are to be brought to the guard's interrogation room for questioning. The tracker already knew the main one that pushed her in, it was now a matter of catching them in the act of collaborating. It had already broke Adie's heart to know one or both of his two other daughters was part of it, let alone the cousins joining in the mix. His best betas took up their positions, as ordered, and waited for any signs of them moving about. Hopefully, with any luck, they would be dumb in their panicked state and mess up early. But regardless, they did their job and watched their movements as ordered.

While those two were busy panicking over how to fix their mistake, her parents sat on their bed in the opposite end of the house wondering how Sachi was staying so strong. The pain must be practically unbearable, but for some reason she was pushing through the pain like a champ. They sat contemplating how they could catch all of the perpetrators in the act of their plotting. The start was already there as the tracker knew who exactly it was who pushed her. But since it involves members of the family, it would need to be handled delicately. First things first, they would need to let the other town elders know what was going on. They may have been the leaders of the tribe, but the council would still need to be informed. After all, the council's input on a lot of issues had to be taken into consideration. That was the way things worked in their tribe. There would be no room for error if they came up with a decent plan to present.

But that is what was needed; was a solid plan of attack to present to them. They had a week to come up with something. By then, the special medicine would have helped Sachi almost completely heal. Besides, enough people had seen the extent of her injuries that they were more than sure the other council members were already aware of how bad they were. For all they knew, it was going to take her at least a month to heal without the special medicine. It was a recipe that is passed down only to members of the village head to be used in extreme circumstances. Sighing heavily, they decided to call it a night and head to bed. Tomorrow would be another long day. Hopefully, the special medicine would already show more marked improvement in Sachi's ability to walk and move. At the very least, making it to the bathroom and tub on her own. Trips to the outhouse would still require an act. They both sighed heavily as they climbed into bed and went to sleep themselves. It was clear that it had been a long two days.

That night as everyone slept, Sachi ended up dreaming about her former life. Mainly reliving the day, it all changed for her. That day, her and her friend had worked on most of the outline for that fashion show project. Out of everyone in their company, they had been chosen to represent their label. It was quite the honor; they had worked for weeks just to win the office pool to go. Out of thirty pairs of co-workers competing, they pulled it off, and they just had to celebrate a little bit. They had left work that day and headed straight for the theater. The movie had featured one of their favorite actors, so how could they pass it up. As her dream went on, she began to get restless, slight sweat was already forming as her heartbeat started to speed up. She was in the car again, everything seemed to go in slow motion as they slowly made their way through the intersection. Then, BAM!!!!! The loud sound of two massive metal objects colliding. Her sweat now started to stinging her wounds as Sachi shot straight up out of bed, despite the pain, as sweat now drenched her nightgown. She screamed the word, NO so loud that her mother and father came running in no time to her bedside. Still breathing rather heavily, she tried her best to calm herself down. It was only a dream of what happened after all. It has already passed. She just kept repeating, "I am alive, that is what matters", over and over again. Her parents sat on either side of her trying to calm her down. Then they realized, she had a bad nightmare about the events of a few days ago. As they soothed her, she leaned herself into them, grateful that they were there at such a time of need. After she calmed down, her parents helped lay her down as she closed her eyes and drifted off back to sleep. They let out a few deep breaths of relief.
