Ch 1 Part 5

Ceilic Bennion: "Well I suppose it is good to keep busy. You are right though, sitting around doing nothing would drive me nuts as well. Well shall I help you to the outhouse? I am more than sure you were waiting for one of us to get up."

Sachi Bennion: "Yes mother you are right. I just did not want to take your guys sleep from you. You did stay up with me all that time before the medicine healed me so well. Shall we put on a show then?"

Ceilic Bennion: "Well if you insist. Let us get this over with. Their stares last night really creeped me out. I did not even know how to react to my own family members staring like that."

Sachi Bennion: "I know mother. But there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to bear with it till father catches everyone slipping up."

They opened the door as Sachi once again slouched over her mother's shoulder. Hobbling like her leg was still messed up beyond help. She kept slightly dragging it behind her till she reached the door. Behind her hair, she looked through and stared at the two porches that belonged to her sister and cousin that were in immediate view. Sweeping her porch, Arlynn stopped abruptly as she tightened her grip upon the broom. The smile that adorned her face fell once again as her mother shuttered underneath her daughter's weight. Her mother finally acknowledged the strange and odd way her sister was staring. She sighed heavily as a sign that she was not pleased with her other child. Finally reaching the outhouse door all the way, Sachi entered the outhouse. A few minutes later, she knocked on the door and leaned on her mother once again as they were continuing the act. They headed back into the main long house and shut the door. Getting off her mother, she walked over to the washbowl and cleaned her hands. Once she finished, she walked over to the stools by the fire and took a seat on one of them. Her mother smiled and let her know she would be back with the special medicine. Sachi shook her head in acknowledgment and watched the crackling flames of the fire once again. Tracing the mark on her arm again, she sat just staring at it till her father walked into the central part of the home.

Adie Bennion: "I see that you are up and well this morning. You even seem to have taken a bath already."

Sachi Bennion: "Yes, me and mother just put on a showing outside. Arlynn seemed quite pissed off still. She even quit cleaning just to scowl at me. Anyway, I have been sewing this morning to keep myself occupied. Once I am fully healed, I will begin training again."

Adie Bennion: "Well at the rate you are healing, you should be able to train in no time. But we will have to have you start off here. I will bring you some training clothes from the barracks. That way, when you are ready in a few days, we can get things going for you again."

Sachi Bennion: "Father, that would be wonderful. By the way, mother is getting the special medicine now. But I am incredibly hungry. Do you think you can get me something solid for a change to eat?"

Adie Bennion: "I can do that. We can not have you going out to soon. You still have at least five more days of this farce, so it is no problem. I am incredibly happy to see how well your arms look. Your mark is just standing off your skin now."

Sachi Bennion: "Yes, well that aside. I have been up since daybreak. I just felt so good this morning I had to get up and do something. So, I got a bath in, refilled the cauldron, and even started sewing my clothes that needed repaired. I just wanted to keep busy for now."

Adie Bennion: "Yes, that is good. I will get you some food. Be back soon. Just do whatever you were doing to keep occupied. I will have the food and I will send some of the maids back with the training clothes."

Sachi Bennion: "Thank you father for that. I will tend to my clothes while you and mother are out."

Reaching down, her father kissed her forehead and headed out of the long house. Standing up, Sachi stretched big and went back to her bed and continued sorting through the clothes. She had already taken most of her items out of the drawer just so she could get a good look at the attire they were wearing. This would help her to make clothes that would fit in with their styles. She even went so far as to basically take apart the pants and some dresses as an added measure. Once she had written down all the measurements of the existing items, she went to work taking some of the ones that that were beyond help and cut them down to size so she could make herself some underwear. She did not like the idea of going much longer without them. She was lost in her thoughts once again when some of the maids showed up as her father had promised with the training clothes. Taking them from their hands, she thanked them and set them upon the bed with everything else. She then turned to one of the two maids and asked them for some sewing supplies. With no arguments, they simply nodded their head and were off to the tailor building to get her an assortment of supplies.

Within an hour, her mother, father, and the maid she sent to get supplies all seemed to return at the same time. Looking up from her project, she walked over to the stool and sat down as her father handed her the food. Taking it with a smile, she thanked her father. Upon the plate, a large steak of some kind. She did not care what it was, from the smell of it and the way she was reacting, it seemed to be something the original Sachi like to eat a lot of. With knife and fork in hand, she set the plate on her lap and happily began to eat. Her parents were simply happy to see her appetite back to where it should be. Noticing that one of the maids had sewing supplies, her mother asked what that was all about.

Ceilic Bennion: "Well I have to ask, what is up with all the sewing supplies?"

In between chewing her food, Sachi answered her.

Sachi Bennion: "I asked one of the maids to get me some supplies from the sewing room so I can mend some of my things that needed work. I cannot go out of the house for at least five more days, so this will give me something to do besides sitting around doing nothing. I do not want to be useless while we pull off this farce for the others."

Ceilic Bennion: "That is good. Keeping busy will help you in the long run."

Finishing her food off, she handed the plate back to her father, who in turn passed it to one of the maids. Her mother then handed her the bowl of special medicine and she drank it down rather quickly. She could not stand the taste of the bitterness left behind. Drinking it quickly seemed to be the best way. Remembering how tired it made her, she walked over to the small table by her bed that had the pitcher, walking up to one of the maids, she asked them to refill it with some fresh water. With a nod, she was out the door quickly. Walking up to her father, she asked him to take her out to the outhouse one last time before the medicine kicks in. She almost forgot how sleepy it makes her.

Sachi Bennion: "Well father, care to take me out to the outhouse one last time before that medicine makes me fall asleep."

Adie Bennion: "Of course. Like the last few days, make a good showing of it."

Sachi Bennion: "You know I will father, let us go then."

With a smile on their faces, they headed to the door. Walking out the door, Sachi leaned upon her father's shoulders and acted like her leg was still broken. Staring through her hair, she looked at the porches again. Her father following her line of sight, watched as his other daughter sat on the porch staring with an evil look. He just did not understand what was going on with her. The goddess already made her status clear. They are both betas and his other daughters just needed to accept that. He wondered where this jealousy was coming from. Maybe having some of the humans living among them was casting off their habits. He had no real answers to these questions, only a generalized thought of what caused it. And that may be wrong as well. Sachi finished using the outhouse and knocked on the door, opening it up, her father helped her to head back to the house. Once inside, she let go of her father as soon as the door was closed. She turned and thanked him.
