Putting On A Show

"Next" A calm voice sounded as the guy with a good talent walked off the stage, he was so happy that he could cry, at first he thought that he would barely get into the sect because his talent had been checked at his town and he was proclaimed to be useless so he had decided to try his luck over here and surprisingly his luck had helped him.

"Hey, it's Zheng He's turn" Felix heard a whisper from behind him as he saw a youth in exquisite robes walk graciously up the stairs as he headed to the pillar, many stared at the youth with respect.

"Hey who's that?" Felix asked a bald man standing next to him.

"You don't know who Zheng He is, have you been living under a rock" The bald man said with shock, his tone indicating that the youth was a well-known person.

"I'm not really from around here" Felix scratched his head with a smile.

"Oh okay then nice to meet you stranger, I'm Li Bai, a body refining practitioner" The bald man said with a grin.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Felix" Felix replied even though he wasn't really interested in making new friends at the moment.

"Felix, a strange name in these parts, you seem like a guy with a story" Li Bai smiled as he observed Felix.

'The fuck is wrong with this baldie, I asked you a question and you just deviated' Felix thought with annoyance as he watched Li Bai continue to run his mouth about totally unnecessary shit.

"Cough, um yeah about Zheng He" Felix interrupted when he saw that he wasn't planning to stop talking now.

"Oh yeah sorry, I tend to get a little carried away sometimes" Li Bai said with a light laugh.

"Yeah, I noticed" Felix said under his breath.

"What was that?" Li Bai asked.

"Huh what" Felix pretended like he hadn't spoken.

"You're funny" Li Bai chuckled.

'Dude you've still not answered my question' Felix thought as he facepalmed in his mind, why did he have to ask this guy, he could have asked the half-snake, half-human beside him who looked like he had killed a lot of innocent people, or the muscular man standing in front of him with a frown as he released his aura recklessly and seemed like he was just waiting for someone to touch him so that he could pick a fight with him, he could have asked any of these dangerous people but he went on to ask this baldie who was still talking about something that wasn't his problem.

"You remind me of my fifth cousin from my mom's side, I remember how we used to fight every time, he is…." Li Bai continued talking about his fifth cousin whom Felix had never met.

'Fuck this guy' Felix thought as he shifted his attention onto the stage where he watched the youth place his hands on the pillar.

BOOOM

ROARRR

A deafening roar shot out from the pillar as it glowed with a bright violet light, above the pillar, the image of a Qilin appeared as pressure descended from the stage and rushed towards the others but was blocked by a silver light that created a barrier between them.

"Wow, the first very rare talent, congratulations to you Zhang He, you have a bright future before you" Feng Shui smiled as he congratulated him.

"Thank you also for the honor" Zhang He said with a martial bow before moving down the stage, above the stage where the ranking board could be found, Zhang He's name shot to the top as his name glowed with a golden hue.

"Wow he's great as always, the son of the imperial general will always shine everywhere he goes" Li Bai said with a smile.

"The imperial General" Felix said with confusion, he had never heard that name before.

"You don't even know who he is, wow you have a lot of catching up to do, but lucky for you, you have me to explain so listen up, the imper…" Li Bai grinned as he proceeded to explain a whole lot of shit, occasionally branching into other topics and wasting time before coming back.

'This is going to take a while' Felix thought with a sigh, who asked him to open his mouth, he split his mind into two as he observed those who were getting on the stage while also paying attention to the key parts of what Li Bai was saying, after a while he was finally up to speed on the events of the outside world so it turns out that there was a whole new world there that he didn't know of, Zenith was split into continents and his continent was the smallest and weakest, there were several forces out there that ruled the various part of Zenith, one of such said force were the imperials, a group that ruled over the capital, their power spread far and wide and their influence ranged, it was alleged that they might have the power of a God behind them which made them such a terrifying force to behold.

The youth called Zhang He was the son of one of the generals of the capital, the generals were powerful existences who guarded the imperials themselves but it turns out that Zhang He had a secret identity, he was the illegitimate son of the general so he was disregarded and underestimated throughout his life and had forced his way up by himself, showing immense talent in cultivation which garnered him the attention of his father who once abandoned him, his father had then tried to adopt him but he refused and left for this sect to find his destiny, and together with his immense talent, he was also humble.

'Hmm seems like a good person to ally myself with' Felix thought as he stared at the retreating figure of Zhan He, he was staring at him when Zhang He suddenly turned around with a frown as his eyes locked with that of Felix.

"What the.." Felix blurted out in shock as he watched Zhang He stare at him for some time before he turned and walked away.

"Are you okay?, am I boring you?" Li Bai asked with a confused look.

"What?, um yes, I mean no, and yes, I mean I'm okay, I was just thinking of something" Felix stammered as his thoughts were reorganized.

"Oh okay, I thought I was doing it again, I've been told several times that I get carried away while speaking so you're going to have to forgive me" Li Bai said with a shrug.

"Um, a question, how strong is this Zhang He?" Felix asked curiously when he remembered the pressure he had felt from his gaze.

"Oh yeah last I heard is that he was a 4-star king, I don't know how strong he is now but I know that he's one of the strongest" Li Bai replied, excited that he was finally having a conversation with Felix.

"Oh a king huh" Felix remembered the tiers that he was taught by Di er, the strongest person in the wind continent that was his previous habitat was only at the peak of the mortal realm, the king realm was after the mortal realm and Goro who had almost killed him was also at the king realm.

'So Zhang He could have easily decimated our whole continent himself, wow what a big world we have' Felix thought as he further broadened his view.

"Wait you said one of the strongest, so does that mean there are others like him" Felix asked with a frown, it would seem that there were so many talented people here.

"Yeah there are more like him, we ha…" Li Bai was about to answer when he was interrupted.

"Next Felix" A voice sounded which broke Felix out of his thoughts, it seemed like it was time for him.

"Good luck friend" Li Bai said with a smile as Felix walked through the crowd to the stage.

"Woah breathe" Felix said to himself as he calmed his raging heart by breathing steadily, his thoughts were a mess as he wondered what type of bloodline he had.

'Here I go then' He thought as he reached his hand out and placed it onto the pillar.

WHOOSH

A light breeze blew but nothing happened, as Felix stared at the pillar in confusion wondering if it was broken, he was about to remove his hand and ask the supervisor when a golden blinding light erupted from the pillar, the pillar trembling as Feng Shui stared at the light in shock.

BOOM

CRACK

Felix was forced to look away as the pillar continued trembling before a loud sound echoed from it, a crack suddenly appeared on the pillar and extended across it longitudinally, at the top of the pillar, two figures appeared, one was dark in color and the other was golden in color, as if sensing each other, the two figures rushed towards each other and when they met, they disappeared as the pillar split in half, the golden light disappearing.
